The best of luck on camping and enjoy the wedding |
Our Maudie took to it immediately. Wherever we were she was right there. We always kept her on a lead after she took off after some grazing cows. Good thing, several years later we had a bear wander through.......2 peoples and 1 sheepdog made an immediate jump into the car and spent the night huddled together. |
We wish we were going with you!! Hope it's an enjoyable as I think it will be for the dogs and you. |
It sounds fun! We camp with our Simon (the basset). He is an exceptional camper!
Here's hoping the name Simon is a lucky name for camping. |
Jake spent a lot of time camping with us, but.:
1) It was in a motorhome, and 2) Fireworks bothered him, and in some parks, especially around July 4th... |
We tried our dogs with camping twice last month and they were great....mind you it was in a trailer, so not quite the same thing...But the rest is.
Now we are leaving next week for a 13 day trip camping, cotteges, and staying with Brenda (Dudster). I will let you know more about what we were not prepared for when we get back. Just yesterday I was thinking that I might need to bring a hair-dryer in case it rains. I was thinking of possibly having the dogs out in the rain doing their potty, then back in the trailer socking wet! |
We have camped many times with our dogs and they love it.. we always ask for a campsite that is a little off the beaten path so that we are somewhat secluded, the boys have always done well and really enjoy it.
In addition to camping, we hike a fair bit with our dogs. They each have their own "saddle bags", so that they can carry their own water. Usually when we hike it wilderness hiking, so we end up camping somewhere along the trail and then hike out again in the morning or whatever. When we camp/hike I always bring a small first aid kit for the dogs, with supplies like bandages, anitobic ointment, benedryl. Bring a small bottle of shampoo and lots of dog towels for drying if need be. Oh.. and I always bring their dog beds with us, familiar smells in the tent for beddy by time. My boys love it and we really enjoy it with them. |
We brought Pepsi camping. He did great!
The only problem we had was when we were packing up to leave Pepsi chewed through his leash. We didn't realize anything until I went to get him. I grabbed the leash, but it wasn't attached to anything. Luckily I had a back up in the car. He didn't go anywhere, I guess he was a bit nervous with us walking back and forth to the car. |
Weve camped with our dogs a lot, both in trailers and tents, and they have always done very well. The close comfy confines of a tent actually seem to calm dogs down (very "den" like).
Good idea, Nicole, about bringing a hair dryer! Ill remember that for us next time! Have fun!!! |
What fun! I hope you have a ball! |
