I cleaned Oliver's ears yesterday, using the solution (the vet said to use this once a week). But, today he is shaking his head like crazy and scratching his ear. It is a little red in it. No hair and no wax build-up. Do you think I got some of the solution too deep in his ear to get the ear dry? Do you think he had another ear infection? |

Ear infections can be very problematic. They do not always go away with the first treatment.
It is doubtful that you got the solution too deep, more likely that the infection is flaring up. Do you have any of the drops left? I would clean his ear well and put any drops in that you have. You may need to see the Vet for another prescription. WHen Tasker has an ear infeciton, we use cleaner, drops AND an oral antibiotic. Chronic ear infection are an awful thing!! If he is still shaking and scratching I would definately take him back to the Vet on Monday |
We just went through an ear infection and had oral meds. Antibiotics and prednisone. I would definately take you sheepie back to the vet. |
We also had the same problem...A few weeks ago double ear infection. Treated with oral meds and drops...Only his ears were so inflamed and painful, it was difficult for us to get the drops in ...ears were fine and then last week again, shaking head, etc. We are treating with the drops now and no oral meds...
Vet told me ear infections, especially if yeast infections, are diffcult to treat and can reoccur...Best to treat both with drops and oral. If your baby is still shaking his head, make a trip to the Vet. You don't want the infections to get severe and deeply into the ear canal... By the way, don't use any vinegar or alchol mixture until ears are cleared or it will burn like mad... Diane |
