I wash Chewies face frequently - almost every day. Part of the time I use regular shampoo, others whitening shampoo. Also before shows I use the whitening gel by #1 all systems.
In the nice weather, I find it is easiet to go on the deck and use the shower setting on my hose sprayer. While I'm at it, I wash under his belly to clean up the pee smell too! He loves it - cool and refreshing in the hot weather. Combing through the beard with a fine tooth comb, or a flea comb removes food and dirt from the beard - really helps keep it clean. |
Hi, Your baby might just be a "wet mouth" - horrible to deal with when showing - lots of corn starch and we tie up the coat over the muzzle with small rubber bands and also tie up the beard with a rubber band (like you use with braces). Luc looks like he has a wet mouth, but if I wipe his beard every time he drinks water, it looks better. Carry a towel around with you to nip it in the bud when he drinks. Hate wet mouths....so hard to hide.... |
Having a towel handy each time they drink and eat helps there also combing the mouth area/beard to remove the bits left after eating.
Hard to keep the beards white & toggled up, till they get length there to tie up and keep it out of food and water. Putting corn starch flour or Potato Flour on the beards and then brushing it out is a good dry clean method and absorbs the wetness there. There is a few products on the market too that help to whiten the area as well, got sheep mentioned a great one the Whitening Gel that can be used regularly then when the staining fades just for maitenance to help keep that area whiter. If you have a drooler/dribbly sheepie makes it harder to keep the beard white. |
