I heard about that too and just thought FANTASTIC!!! |
Very nice! I hope this can give him the opportunity to further refine his voice and find his own style!
I look forward to hearing his next aria. |
He's AWESOME!! I think it's fabulous that he's doing so well. |
He won that competition, and was on the Today Show, singing on the plaza with a backup chorale of about 8 women. Where do you find a backup chorale of 8 women who happen to all know an aria that Paul happens to know... oh well, leave it to that Simon Cowell dude!
Anyway, he is in NYC just for a few hours, then back on a plane to England tonight. Saturday he starts recording an album -- he expects it to be ready in about a month. (Leave it to that Simon Cowell dude!) He has quit his day job, and hopes to use some of the money to get some voice lessons. He hasn't had ANY, which I think is pertty amazing. Like I said before, I hope he now has the opportunity to find his own style and a good voice coach.. he's got the talent! |
I had heard that he didn't have any formal training, but that he had moved to Italy for awhile to learn more about opera. What a marvel!!! Apparetly Simon said to him, "Well, guess you won't be selling anymore cell phones now!" HA HA...Congrats to him! |
I hope some very intellignet opera company snaps him up. Raw talent like that is rare. Good for him to get noticed! I also thinks it's great that people can cheer for a classical singer! Popular culture now a days has glorified singers like Brittany and ?Christina, while some amazingly talented folks who love beethoven and mozart get passed on by. Kudos to Simon too, for actually picking someone like that to promote. Here I though he was only interested in creating pop icons! |
As a card carrying opera lover, this is just great! I loved Simon and the other's eyes when he announced he'd sing opera.........and then to select Nessum Dorma, a very well know aria where one slip would be so evident! I didn't think he did well with the second piece........he did good, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't quite for him.
I especially loved the audience's reaction! Opera may have gotten a few converts in the audience. Sorry I didn't see him on the Today's show..... |
Almost forgot, Nessun Dorma is a aria from Turnadot . It's "let no man sleep." anyone of the famous Three Tenors just kill this aria.......and a lot of upcomers (I hope Paul Potts will be one someday too)
Turnadot was presented either last summer or the summer before in Santa Fe.........I'm not sure the tenor here did as well as Paul Potts. BTW, it's a great opera for someone getting into it....it's not as simple as Madame Butterfly Rent it on DVD. |
