Wow, then my dogs must really be inbred because Glacier has 3 dew claws on each hind leg!!
No, dew claws are quite common on dogs.....maybe not in all breeds, but there are many with big honking dew claws like my Pyrs. |
I thought that most dogs had dew claws, that they were removed shortly after birth when tails are docked etc. My GSD has dew claws and she definately isnt inbred. |
Who told you that? Most dogs have dew claws even mixed breeds. My moms Pom Cross has them on all four legs. He is definately not inbred he is a Heinz Variety.
My sisters cattle dogs have them and they are not inbred, one is a cross between a cattle dog and Kelpie, she actually had them removed when they were older due to one of them going through a farm fence and ripping one off. Most working breeds have them removed at birth for that reason and a lot of long coated breeds as they can be missed with nail clipping in the long coats. Most dogs wether pure breed or cross breed have them, some only on two legs, some are born with all four legs with them on and some with none at all regardless of the breed or wether they are inbred, pure bred or just a mixed breed |
