how long is it until a puppy is considered trained?

I bought a malamute about 2-3 weeks ago, he is now 16 weeks old. He rarely has accidents in the house or breezeway(where his crate is) and he hasnt gone in his crate since i brought him home the first day. i just dont know when i can safely trust him to sleep outside his crate all night; i know he doesnt like it in there, but i cant let him go in the breezeway.

any advice, or timeline or anything?

thanks

I would say all dogs are different and some train alot faster than others.

My puppy was housetrianed within about 3 weeks of bringing him home but he slept in our room from the second night we brought him home as he howled the house down from downstairs. he never had an accident upstairs he somehow just seemed to know he couldn't!!

You just have to go with it and trust your instinct! there may be accidents but they clean up!!!
Is there a reason you want him out of the crate at night? Crate training is not a short term situation. Many dogs use their crate as a sleeping place for their entire lives. If you don't have a paticular reason for wanting him out of the crate at night I say leave him there.
yea

i think he feels isolated in the breezeway, we're not in there a lot, but theres no room in any other part of the house.
Is he howling or making a rukus? Some dogs want to be alone at night, some want to snuggle.....they are all different. Leave him there if possible.
thanks for the advice

i think he was just getting lonely
