Glad someone else found the instructions difficult to understand
I understood it to mean that you could apply the gel up to three times before requiring it to be washed out. Since it is a type of bleach it will dry the hair out and cause breakage if too much is left in for too long. We never had a problem with that as Nelson quickly dunks his head in his water bowl and washes it out. We were actually more concerned about the stuff getting into his water than hair breakage so we rarely use the whitening gel anymore. Whitening shampoo alone does a decent job if left on long enough. |
We apply it with a basting brush (yep, just one from the kitchen we use JUST for this lol). I put it on at the beginning of a grooming session and wash it out at the end.
I was concerned about it being in their drinking water also. Blekkkk!!! Dawn and Virgil are both a real mess with beards lately and I like the results of the Gel. But as the pp said...whitening shampoo if left on long enough does a pretty good job also. |
I use a toothbrush, dip it in then apply to the beard where it is stained, let it sit on the beard for 10-15 minutes, I usually just have them laze on the grooming table while it is working its magic, then I wash it out then dry.
After about 3 applications you will see a gradual fade. |
We use it too. LeAnne and I both work in the medical world, so we frequently have extra gloves come home in pockets!
It works great using a rubber glove on your hand and just working the gel through the stained hairs. Gives real good control where it goes and our dogs like it better - more like petting and a good chin scratch! I use it before a bath. During the pre-bath brushout, I put it on near the end - about 15-20 minutes before tub time. Then just wash it out as I shampoo. Chewie is on the table for brushing, so the gel stays put until tub time. We use a whitening shampoo sometimes too, both work well. |
