I agree...what a BORING ending...... |
At first I was annoyed, but after I thought about it, I started appreciating it more. It kind of let you make up your own ending and draw your own conclusions. They had you looking at everyone in the restaurant, like something was going to happen. But the big twist is that it wasn't about any of the problems, it was really just about Tony and his family-- and that's how it ended, too. That whole line about thinking about the good times kind of summed it up.
It was also a pretty nice way to set up a future movie... |
It is a nice setup. When the screen went black...I just sat there, staring at it. I went to bed, and was so keyed up from waiting for something to happen, that I couldn't sleep! Then, I sprang up thinking....OH! They probably showed the ended after the credits!!! Nope...guess not. Someone here at work, thinks that they were in the Witness Protection program at the end (explaining the odd choice of restaurants) but I don't think so, because when Meadow was trying to park, they showed her license plate which was a NJ plate, and I don't think she would have had that if they were in the program. |
The restaurant was someplace that they had went to often, not that we saw as the viewer but by the comments that they were making about how the onion rings were the best in state and all that. I'm pretty sure that they weren't going into a witness protection program. Carlo was already ready to roll over them and Tony was facing an indictment. It was probably too late for him. I really think that ending was just so you could make up your own conclusion, which is pretty fun. makes for good debate. |
I laughed. We should have known....Deadwood ended the same way. Other than Six Feet Under, have any of those shows ended by tieing up loose ends? Why did we think this would be different?
As for a movie, James Gandolfini is really finished with the character. I doubt there will be a movie........what a continuing version of Star Trek?? |
I felt ripped off too! They could have at least shown someone with a gun or starting to do something untoward....then end it....would have been more suspenseful......now it looks like ill have to wait to see the future movie on hbo after all! |
I was furious at the ending last night - too many episodes in the last few seasons were wastes of time, IMO. However, I saw some reviews this morning that made me wonder if I missed the point. Other viewers who pay more attention mentioned that in the first episode of this season Bobby and Tony were discussing what it would be like to be shot and Tony's response was that he thought it would just go black. So, there is a theory that the screen going black signified Tony getting shot by the guy who had gone to the bathroom.
I don't know if I buy it - I think the fans are just trying to make the episode into something brilliant. I feel ripped off. |

The second worst series ending.... Seinfeld. I don't remember the discussion about being shot on the Soprano's, but there's a lot I don't remember anymore |

It was also a pretty nice way to set up a future movie... I agree with Jill. Though I am still a bit annoyed. |
