Yes, the feeling will go away but it will take time. As Darcy gets older and more independent you'll feel more comfortable with her safety. Unfortunately, Fergie's days were numbered at birth but she was taken from you so much sooner than expected. This board grieved right along with you when she went to the Bridge. Darcy is a healthy little girl and she'll be just fine. Plus, you have great support from her wonderful breeder nearby. Little Darcy is tough, just like her namesake. Don't worry, she'll be just fine. |
I'm sorry! |
When Walter was a pup I was always soooo worried he was sick. I'm sure losing your little Fergie has made it even harder on you... but like Nita said Darcy is a healthy girl and she will be just fine! |
How fitting that I heard this line on the TV a minute ago.
"You can only know true happiness, if you have had true sorrow to contrast it." We were all so sorry when you lost Fergie. I know how much you loved and protected her. And that you carry the sorrow of her lost in your heart. These feelings will pass in time. You have been blessed with a wonderful new baby. I believe her destiny is to help you heal. Enjoy her, be happy. |
D...it will go away..enjoy Darcy...give her a shoe and just laugh.....

Getting a new pup soon after (or even not so soon) losing a beloved dog is a wonderful aid to healing, and moving on....but the flip side of it is what you are experiencing.
I went through a very similar stage when we got Eggbert. We had lost our boy Spencer very suddenly, and unexpectedly, and poor Bert had to go through his first month or so with us being watched like a hawk by his paranoid Mommy! You DO get over it! These little guys and their antics just wont let us continue to take ANYTHING too seriously for long. |
I'm sure it's scarey but you'll feel more comfortable with time!! |
