Dohdee Bunte 7/22/93-6/6/07
We have some sad news to report. We put our sheepie, Dohdee, down this afternoon. Over the last two weeks, Dohdee had been getting progressively more anemic and on Monday, we took her in for a blood transfusion as a stop-gap measure while we tried to find out and address the cause. Yesterday, we did a couple of diagnostic ultrasounds and we found a tumor on her heart, which appears to be a very aggressive cancer (hemangiosarcoma). Overnight, it appears that she may have started bleeding internally, and she is letting us know that it is time to let her go. She has been an amazing animal and we feel blessed to have had her in our lives for this long. Anastacia & Dave Bunte  |

Sorry for your loss, it is never easy as they do have such an impact on our lives, memories stay with us forever, the great love and joy they shared with us for all those years while part of our lives, they leave that to us as a special gift and as the hurt and sadness subsides, those memories are there forever to put a smile onto our face and in our heart, that lasts forever as their gift to us..  |
| Thank you all for your kind words. While we feel huge sense of grief, we are somewhat at peace. I'm sure this cancer was causing Dohdee an enormous amount of pain. The kindest thing we could do for her was let her go and know she is free of suffering. She gave us so much over the 13+ years and was a very special, unique sheepie. Although my heart is broken I feel her around me and have a sense of peace. She will remain alive in my artwork and in Sebastian for she taught him well.

| I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious girl, and I understand your pain only too well. I lost my boy Shep on 30th Dec and still miss him every day. You obviously gave her a great life and you should try to take some comfort in that.

| Hi Everyone,
In going through some old photographs of Dohdee I found one from 2005 I thought people might like to see. As many of you know, sheepies love to sleep upside down-at least Dohdee did. She is here upside down next to the couch. 
On the couch you will notice an afghan that is made up of gray squares. This is a gift I gave my husband for our 5th and 10th Anniversaries. It is made out of wool in addition to my sheepies hair(Both Dohdee & Oreo who are at the Rainbow Bridge). It took me three years of collecting brushed out hair and sneaking it away to a friend to have it knit. Some of the hair we had been keeping since Dohdee was a puppy. Fortunately, Dave didn't notice that the amount of hair kept dwindling. The signifigance of this gift is now all the more important to us. Anastacia |

| It will be five weeks tomorrow since Dohdee died. I decided that if she were a flower she would have been a daisy. So, I have planted daisies in my garden.
I am so touched by everyone's kind words. I have written over 26 thank you cards. Evidently Dohdee touched many lives. Every animal is special to their humans and this forum has proved to be a wonderful support group. Thank you all. I received an e-mail from one of Dohdee's surgeons that read: "Dohdee was indeed a great friend. Somehow the word "dog" doesn't do justice to her bravery and contribution to our lives. I appreciate the opportunity to know her and help her out in being your friend. I share your loss and will keep her and you as a golden memory. Thank You all Erick" Every time I read this I cry as it touched me so. He must see so many animals and for him to feel this way about my girl moves me to tears. | What a lovely dog. I know what you are going through we lost our lovely Katy on 7.7.07. She was way too young. I have been looking at her photos and they bring me some relief. As does this forum. Hugs for you and yours xx |
