Shears and scissors recommendations, please

Can any of you recommend a good brand of shears, scissors, and curved scissors? Also, what length should they be? I want to get the new pup used to mommy messing with all his parts. Also, does anyone recommend the bamboo care nail trimmers? Trying to get as many supplies as I can before he gets here. I wanted to get a good set of trimmers, but I can't get the Oster ones yet, spent too much already between George and all his "stuff". I know I won't need the trimmers yet, but I just wanted to turn them on and lay them against him so he could get used to the buzzing sound and feeling. Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi, I got my clippers on ebay (used) and they work great for around $60.
Blades brand new over ebay not to bad. I have clipped my poodle with them but my sheepie, hoping for long coat. Brushs I am still learning, I go a regular pin brush but I have ordered #1 all system pin brush without the balls on the ends. I have been told they are better for there coats, there is another brush ,way more $ but I do not remeber the name Chris something. Someone here will problay tell you the name. I'll be getting one of them later. My sheepie does not like slickers brushs but they do work. I picked up an slicker brush with a comp on the same side for double coats works good. She just does not let me work on her to long. We are going through a coat change right now and the pin brush I can get her relax through that.
For pin brushes - most of use the Chris Christenson (sp), Hindes or A-1 Systems. My most recent one is the CC t-brush. It is easier to use - more ergonomic.

To start out you may want to buy a rather inexpensive pair of straight shears. Maybe with a puppy you'd want to consider a pair with ball-tipped ends for safety. The ones we have are 6-1/2" Fromm's and they're great for trimming between the toes and other sensitive areas on adult dogs. They were only around $20.

There are so many brands out there it's mind boggling so I won't even try to recommend one. Check out Petedge.com or Cherrybrook.com for shears in all brands and price ranges. It really depends on how much you'll use them and what you can afford.

With Nelson's big round feet and butt we get lots of use from a pair of 10" curved shears. He was fully grown (boy, did he grow!) before he needed these.
