Oh my!! I shaved Lacey today!

No pics yet, but she looks like a completely different.

I had met a Silky Terrier Breeder (Silky's are a breed created from crossing the Yorkshire Terrier and the Australian Terrier, they look very similar to the Yorkie) in Cancun and we started talking about Lacey. I wondered what she was mixed with....
She first said if Lacey's hair stopped growing at about 4 - 5 inches she was probably a Silky mix. I guess Yorkie's hair just keeps growing.
She said, from the description I gave her that Lacey is most likely a mix with a Dachsund. I explained how her ears were rounded and floppy and that she was 16" long. She's only 12" at the shoulders, so she's quite long.

Well, after shaving her down it seems like she is definitely a Doxie mix....
I don't think she looks very pretty right now, but then again I am not used to seeing her like this. She is cute, ..... in a totally different looking dog type of way.

When she came in through the dog door and it was the first time I saw her at a distance since I was working up close and personal while shaving.
I looked at her and thought who's dog is that? LMAO

I will post pics later.

She is such a pretty girl. :hearts:

Antoinette
Oh my gosh you are right she looks completely different! And I totally agree she looks like a little Doxie mix.
Lacey looks wonderful :D
Thanks Antoinette, Heather and Jean. :)

I didn't plan of shaving her head area. But this time around on the haircut her head just looked extremely large and liony.
I was trying to just trim it a little but she wouldn't stay still long enough for me to even it out. So I shaved. 8O

So here are some comparision shots.

Who took Lacey????? lol She looks beautiful E, but you know how much I love "hairy" dogs.
Trust me Helen, I much prefer Lacey in full coat. :(
But the reason for the haircut...besides the heat was that she kept going into the pool and was starting to matt, even though I brushed her on a daily basis. I figured if her body was short, she'd be cooler and I wouldn't have to deal with matts.... but then we had the head incidient. lol
WOW , what a difference, I like Lacey both ways
Who's that girl? 8O She looks completely different. I'm a sucker for long hair, but I know it's easier to care for when short and she probably feels good too!
Aweeee... she looks so sad. I think when small dogs are shaved, they look more fragile. I always treat my maltese like she's glass after I clip her down because she looks so tiny!!! I would get a Lacey (breed type) in a heartbeat!
She looks like a completely different dog! Talk about a transition!
That is a big change. She looks so little now.
woah! That is quite a difference! I always think that sheepies look like different dogs when they are shaved, but I've never seen anything like this! Who knew a doxie was hiding under all that hair!
I am normally a big fan of hairy dogs, but I think she is equally cute both ways. :-)
lol....she looks cute, but TOTALLY different!! :D
  I keep saying "Who are you???" to her.
Everything looks different about her except her tail.
Long hair, short hair or shaved....doesn't change the fact that the first moment you laid your eyes on Lacy...you will be captured by her big soulful eyes...

She is a cutie no matter what!

Gigi
WOW Elissa!!! She looks like a totally different dog, cut but different!!!!!!
Thanks Gigi and Ginny. :D

I am still not used to the haircut. :?
I do think she looks cute, just so, so different.
Oh I love her little face shaved or unshaved. What a cutie!
