Mr. Pee Pee Pants

Alritey Mr. Miles is a handfull 8O ! We let him outside, he poops like 3 times n pees forever, and yet when we bring him inside the house, he still manages to pee again :x ! Any suggestions? I also noticed, he gets mean n aggressive when i carry him a certain way. How long did it take everyone to train thier OES. Any suggestions for a first timer w/ OES. Also he's teething so he's biting everything. We give him a chewing bone n dat keeps him busy for a bit, i'm just trying to get him away from attacking my clothes while the clothes are on me. He's so adorable tho  , but just asking for some friendly advices. Thanks in advance! :D

Hi Trinity,

When we were potty training ours, we set a timer for 30 minutes and go outside with them. If they go outside then lots of praise and a treat. As they get up in age, I gradually let the timer get longer in between times. I also kept them crated if I couldn't stay where I could see them at all times. If you can see them go in the house, just with a firm no, it is sometimes enough for them to figure out, "oh if I go here, she seem's upset, when I go outside I get praise and treat. As they got older, I could make the confined area bigger and they wouldn't go to the bathroom in that area of the house. When they got 11 months old they could then be trusted in the whole house.
Our male wasn't much of a chewer, he just needed 20,000 different size balls to play with. LOL Annabelle, was a big chewer, and it took lots of different toys, and textures to keep her happy. If she was chewing on us or something she shouldn't we would replace it (or our hand) with the toy she could chew on. She seemed to quickly learn what was ok and what wasn't. Toilet paper on the other hand is still fair game, if she can get to it, she will, there is too much temptation when it comes to TP. LOL.
Also, I am not sure how old he is, but Jack got really big at just a few weeks old. He might just be uncomfortable with the way you are carrying him. Try leash training now, it will save your back in the long run. LOL
Glad to hear Miles is doing good, please post pictures when you get a chance. Stormi and co.
thanks for advice. yeah i finally got my picture up. it was taken when he was with his breeder. his legs are getting longer now. can't wait. so happy i kno how to post. wow
AWWW! Trinity, Miles is adorable. Great job on the avatar it took me many times to figure it out. Stormi and co.
How old is Miles? I would get him enrolled in an obedience class ASAP (positive reinforcement). The peeing could be a sign of dominance - and so can the aggressive behavior. It will help to get him in training - and the socialization with a group class is crucial to his learning.

There may be someone in your area that could recommend a good trainer - it is important that you use only positive reinforcement (praise, treats, etc.). I would also recommend the book The Dog Listener: Learn How to Communicate with Your Dog for Willing Cooperation, by Jan Fennell.

Good Luck! He is a cutie!

Stormi & Kristen are right, positive reinfrcement is the best. Don't forget to use the "Go potty" command!

Every time you see Miles going, say "Go potty" or whatever you like best and praise him a lot, that way he'll also associate the command. Lennon and Sofi learned quick to go on command if they got to, and that saves us a lot of hassle on trips.

Good luck with Miles! He's really cute.
uhmmmmmm..heres some advice have you tried crate training?i know my mickey would do his business outside and come in and pee/poop where ever he decided!!

so w/ the advice of the OES owners in here i tried crate training and it has been awesome for us.very rarely does mickey have an accident.i must say he is pretty perfect :D hehe!!

hey marley did you happen too check out the grammer on [another] post??? hehe!!
Oh Tanya! I knew this would come back and bite me on the... butt! LOL
And yes, I did. But think I know better and will mind my own grammatical business! LOL
I too trained emily to go "potty" command, everytime i took her out i told her "potty" and praised her "good potty!" it may sound silly but she was totally potty trained within a month and we haven't had an accident since.
i would stop picking up the pup for any reason, my 85 pound girl still wants me to pick her up, i've had to start carrying her on my back as you can see from the picture :D .
thanks for all the advices. yeah we did try crate training him. his silly butt decided to pee in there. wat a silly dog, why would u want to pee in there n have to stay in there wit it. n he has this bad habit of peeing and wanting to just lay down in it. or step all over it. now if he ever pee's in the house, i give him a time out n chain him to the door or put him in his cage for a good 15 minutes. Jus to let him kno that if he pees in the house means he can't hang out wit us. i'm trying my best to make him a good boy, my bf's parents dont kno dat we have a puppy, so we're trying to get him behave before they come bak from thier long trip. we'll see how it goes, hopefully he'll be better in the next two wks n will be able to sell himself to his parents. regardless we aren't going to return the dog or anything, but we just want to show them that he can be well behaved.
I know the frustration of having them pee in their crate, but if you stay cconsistent, after a few days they won't pee in the crate anymore because they know they get let out at certain times and it seems to me their own internal clock adjusts to those times. They don't like peeing in there any more than you do.
We have had Luna since July 22 and she is 12 weeks old. I just cant figure her out when it comes to her pi and poop sindrome.
She can be outside sleeping or playing for hours and she will not do it. She comes in the house and boom on the floor. She knows she did wrong and we scold her. she seems to only poo when you are with her. She does not seem to do it on her own. I can take her for her night walk at 10:00pm and she will poo and pi. We are back in the house and within 10 minutes she can poo 2 times. I dont know whre she finds it.
Another problem is her agressive behaviour. there is a difference with playing but she can get really aggressive. She bites your clothes and feet constantly. We do scold her or give her a wack on the bum and stating NO.
Will this ever stop?
Another question..Does any of you feed her the barf diet. We havce done it for a month and a half and we are not certain if we can continue it. It is very time consuming. If I do decide to get off it can anyone recommend a good dry dog food for her.and how much do you feed her?Luna seems like she can eat forever if you would let her.
Well, I am sure that others will give you more advice, but I would not wack her. OES do not respond well to that kind of thing, and the best thing to do is to ignore her behavior and walk away. I had the same problem with my girl and its working very well. As far as the Barf diet, I dont know much about it, I know that Kristen has mentioned on this forum that high protein content can increase agression. I feed Mopsey Wellness dog food which is made of all human grade ingredients. There are many other foods that are good, like Flint river, Nutro, and Blue. Positive reinforcement works well with OES, so when she becomes agressive, I would ask her to do something she knows like sit, and then reward her with a treat. I also, highly recommend enrolling her into a puppy class. She will learn many great things there, like socialization, commands, and it will increase the bond between you and your puppy. Goodluck and keep us posted on the progress.
Luna- For almost a year i could not stop my girl from #2 in the house. She would also only go if you were with her, standing there or on a walk. Most of the time it was when we left the house, we could just run outside to the car and when we came back there it was! What i started doing was making sure that i planned enough time to take her for a longer walk 15-30 minutes. For about 3 months i walked her until she went at least 2 times on one walk, sometimes 3. very slowly i began to walk her a little less and eventually she got the idea that when she was on a walk she had to do her business. the times that we would have the accidents we just ignored her while we cleanned it. we didn't give her any attention, no yelling or even looking at her. it really did work. now she is on a schedule when it comes to her bathroom times.
as far as the biting at your clothes we told her no, made her sit and then we got down on the floor with her and gave her quiet loving attention. now when she wants to be loved she sits down in front of us.
I would not recommend scolding her when she goes in the house. This can often backfire.

Is Luna crate trained? I would recommend that!

You need to put her on a schedule - make sure she knows she's outside just to pee & poop - not to play. When she goes - reward her and then bring her in. You mentioned "she's outside sleeping & playing" - how much of the day is spent outside?

Also - I think you should enroll her in an obedience class (positive reinforcement only!). This will help with alot of her behaviors!
