I rarely call my dogs by their names! Friends thought Sydney's name was "Peanut" for the longest time! I call her all sorts of other names too , "Sweety Pea", "Pumpkin", "Punk", "Little One", "Syd", "Little Freak", etc, etc.! My sister calls her "Wacky"!
Brittney is "Big Girl", "Old Lady", "Bubbi" (no idea why! it's something that just happened), "Brit", - very rarely Brittney - because I'm really not too big on that name (Apologies in advance to all the Brittney's out there! ) Presley is "Pretty Girl", "Crazy", "Spaz", but mostly just "Pres". My nephew calls them all "Sweety" or "Cutie"! Kristen (who's family calls her TINA for some unknown reason) |
Haaaaaa! Nicknames! Great idea. Well, Mopsey is Mophead, Mobster (for bossing the cats around...), Mopey Mopey (for when one of us leaves and she mopes around the house..) Munchkin, Moo Moo (for when she makes a mooing sound when she sees us come home), Monster (for when she is being bad...LOL), Shmoop (don't know how that came about), Wiggles, and I think that is all i can think of right now! Notice how most of the names start with letter "m". LOL Love her! My little sweet girl! |
Is Brittney your oldest? In Czech, Bubbi meant granny, or grandma..it's what we called our grandmother. |
Pud will answer to Pud, Puddy, Monster, Sir Ster Sir, Goofy, Sh**head and just about anything else you call him.
My Aussie, properly titled Maggie Mae, would (when she could still hear) answer to Maggie, Maggie Louise, Louise, Weezie, Sweet Girl, Baby Girl, and Pretty Girl. The one's ending with girl alot of times would start out with Momma's or Daddy's depending on who was doing the calling. |
How fun nicknames...I first have to say that I call my son Bubby, because when I refered to him sincerely as my baby, he got upset, so Bubby was our compromise when he was 2. LOL My son is also called Joey-Boy on a regular basis.....which leads to Jack, being Jackie-Boy. Fuzzybutt on occasion. Jackson Wiggle which is his full name when he is in trouble. LOL
Ashlan, my daughter, is Ashy or Ash... Annabelle gets called Annie. Kissyface..., The kids in general get called munchkins or kiddo's. O'Malley the cat who has white mitts on his feet got into pink makeup. He is still called Pink Powder Puff Paw. Toulouse is Toulousey. Berlioz is Berz and Marie is Merz or Miss Marie and now she is called Pretty Mama. Even though my name, Stormi, is odd enough, most of my family calls me Storm. Charles, my husband is CJ and more commonly called Ceej, by me. It is funny that most of us call our fur family and family by a nickname of some sort. Stormi and co. |
BrendaM wrote: Is Brittney your oldest? In Czech, Bubbi meant granny, or grandma..it's what we called our grandmother.
Yes, Brittney's my oldest. I'll pretend that's why I call her Bubbi! Actually, my neice & nephew call their grandfather Bubbi - but I just thought that was a family nickname for grandfather - I didn't realize it actually had a meaning! For Brittney it was just one of those by accident things that seems to have stuck. Thanks Brenda! Kristen |
Oh yeah all sorts of names for Lola already at 6 months. I call her Boo (don't know where I got that one), my wigglebut, Flufferbutt, Shuffleupagus (she makes a shuffle noise on the wood floors), Lola Bean. My husband calls her Yoda...he didn't care for Lola.
And always my Sweetie Girl |
LOL I want more nicknames!!! Anyone else wants to join in???? LOL |
Cooper Pooper Scooper, Lizziebelle, and oh yeah- Clyde's was Wooly Bully |
So we're not alone! As a matter of fact not only is Jules "Ju-Ju", and "Sheepie"...she is "Ju-Ju-B", "fluffymuffy", "stuupie" and "musha-musha". I had a good laugh reading this post. My kids also have many knick-names...the list is long there as well. |
bell bell, mama's little sheep sheep, wiggybutt, mistress bellatrix, bell, fluffybutt
my son calles her bellybongo as he pats her tummy That all i can think of off hand cher |
He he he Everyone seems to have their butts involved in the nicknames! So cute! Their butts are adorable! LOL |
pocha- that's sooo cute that you call her Lola bean, i've been calling my girl emmy bean since the first time i saw her asleep in the the floor. so cute and small, and well like a bean lying on the floor.
glad to know it's not as crazy as my husband thinks. oh course not that she's bigger it's usually beast, when she's taking up the whole bed. |
Can a to be sheepie owner join in?
My kitty girls are as follows: Iris: Frissy, Ris, Frissymow, Fuzzy Butt (Birman's have fuzzy behinds too!), Ivris. Bell: Bell Bell (this is the only thing she comes too), chirpy chirp, sweet cheeks, my sister and mom call her Hell's Bells (but that isn't well deserved, she's a little blue sweet heart!) |
We call Norman the Monster because his hair parts in the middle and he looks just like the monster from Bugs Bunny. Carl is Snuffles. He pushes his nose under your arm so that you have to pet him and makes a snuffling noise while he does it. |
Blue answers to "Dulux" as in...
"Oooh- look! It's a Dulux dog!" |
Helen, I get the show "Cash in the Attic" on BBC America. One episode featured a statue of the Dulux dog which sold at auction for over 500 pounds! I'm sure Blue is worth much more. |
Both my dogs have nicknames that they answer to: Molly is Molly-Kins, Molly-kinses, Molly Moo and Mrs. M. Darling Pirate is Pirate, Mr. P, Captain, OY YOU! and quite often, numbnuts...go figure! |
this is a great thread. Lee and I have so many names for our "kids"
Kiera Formal Name - Kiera Jean KJ Jean Bean Jeanus Beanus Beanie Girl Barbara Bush ( white curly hair and bulgy eyes, just needs pearls) Sissy And many more Tyler Formal Name - Tyler Joe TJ Joseph Schmody Love Bunny Mommas Main Man Bro Bro Tiny Legs McGee ( he is very tall 31" at shoulders and thin) Daisy Formal Name - Daisy Jane DJ Janey Sweetie Pie We have had her only for two weeks so names are still developing for her. keep the thread going, this is pretty fun |
He he he, Jeanus Beanus Love it! |
Lately we've been calling Sky Little Sausage more than Sky, she now answers to Sausage. Dancer is mostly Baby Girl. Winston is often called Win-snot, Sweet Pea is Dumb A$$, Isis is just Isis, and Cleo is mamma cat, or Stink Butt. Teal the iguana gets called Lizard, the fish don't have nicknames, they're lucky to have names...lol....
As for my kids, we most often refer to them as a group of dirt trolls. Ashley's nickname is Ashkabash, because she used to bash her head ff things as a baby. Tyler and Aaron don't really have nicknames... although, when Tyler was little I used to call him My Ty (mai tai) which is a phrase in many languages, but it means something quite rude in polynesian... so I stopped, I was afraid I'd give him a complex...lol... |
Talking about mama cat, how is she and the kittens doing??? |
They're doing great! Since Cleo was so malnourished when we got her it has been sooo hard trying to keep her healthy during the strain of being pregnant and nursing five hungry babies. I've got her on high quality kitten kibble out at all times as well as canned kitten food 2 times a day. The poor thing is so thin though. I'm going to start feeding the kittens a mixture of pablum and canned kitten food on Thursday, the day they turn 3 weeks. I'll still let them be with Cleo of course, but maybe that will take some of the strain off her. |
Wow, they ae three weeks already! Time sure does fly... I am glad that they are doing well. Poor Cleo needs some fatty foods! LOL Your such a good (step) mommy! |
I love all the nicknames!
Shaggy is also Boo Boo (as in Boo Boo Bear), which has been shortened to Boo. He is also Baby, and Pom Pom (He thinks he is a little pomeranian when he sits in our laps), and Sleepy Sheepie. He will anwer to any of them. And if he doesn't answer to them, you just have to say Mmmmmm, as if you had something good, and he will appear out of nowhere. |
Ha ha ha! I used the "Mmmmmm" technique with Mopsey a few times to coax her in the house when she refused to come in and i happened to not have a treat on me! LOL Well, that worked twice, and then she caught on... I always gave her the treat once she came in, we went to get a snack. They are too smart for their own good! LOL |
BUMP
I thought it time to show this thread to the newbies, and I never did post to it, so my turn! Pooh Bear's Nicknames (words he answers to) Pooh, Poobie, Pooper, Poopie, Sir Poops a lot, Pooh Diddy, Dummie, "Big Annoying Dog" (my wife's name for him), anything you call him whilst holding a cookie. Woof. |
If I had to go by what Ollie answers to these would be his nicknames:
Outside-he'll come running everytime Moni honey did you feed the dog?-Same result Mom! Johnny droped his food!!!! Who wants a cookie? I want an apple (big sheepie love for apples) GEDALYA!!!! (Full name only used for deep do do) where's Mama's baby? Who wants to go to Grandmas? Where is my Grandpuppy? and of course... Wigglebutt |
So far, Jasper is big boy, Jaz, fuzzy butt, or fluffy. |
Wow, old thread. Thanks jsmarcus for bringing it back. Somehow I missed
it the first time around. Isn't is funny how many of us seem to come up with nicknames that under any other circumstances would seem silly, words we would maybe never used otherwise. For instance I would never have the occasion to say Booboo- but it worked for one of our dogs. We call our Tucker similar names to what I have read here so far- of course, wiggle butt, Knubbins - cause he really loves knubby rubbins, my husband calls his Sheep Doggy Dog - or Poop Daddy, I usually call him my babydog. And of course all these silly things must be said (at least opccasionally) in that obnoxious chubby wubby woo woo voice that makes anyone listening question your sanity. But we do it anyway and still call them by nicknames that non-dog people just don't "get". I wouldn't change it for the world! More nicknames please... This thread is very interesting... . |
Remy gets Bum-Wag all the time...or I call her Girlie.
Our cat Jake...only has one other name Jakers. Amy doesn't have any other names...other cat. But our three main animals are Grey, or grey and white...it kinda funny how it worked out. |
Hiya sheepie lovers...this is my first time writing I love all the nicknames so I just had to share. I am owned by 2 OES and they answer to all of the following...
Lindbergh is my nearly 3 year old male and will answer to Lin, LinLin, Lindy, Bug (where that came from who knows) Lindy Loopy is a Poopy, Lindy's got a big ol' butt (which follows with the chourus of oh yeah! oh yeah!) Mr. Fuzzy Butt and Mr. Furry Pants. Amelia is my little 7 month old girl so I haven't had as much time to give her silly names but she is Me, Meme, Meemers and Fuzzy Bunny, because I swear she has air in her back end the way she can bounce and hop. I have really enjoyed the forum! |
Ours is "Lord Woofington (of Arthrug)" - sometimes he looks so superior and regal (yes, you may groom me now....) |
my kids call bob ,bob bear |
I love this thread!
We call Bentley all of the following: Mudmuffin (think backyard in Spring) Blockhead (his head is very hard and it seems like he can wack it on anything and just keep going!) and Benters Lately it feels like he doesn't respond to anything, though. I guess we need to reinforce some training! Bentley's Mom |
Truman has a bunch of names. He answers to just about anything, especially if you have treat in hand! Let's see..... there's Screwy Truey, Shagmeister, Tutty My Little Buddy, Mr. Naughty Boy, Knucklehead, Bitin' Boy. The cat, Riley, answers to Smiley Riley, Stir (don't ask), Rile E. Kitten. Sometimes he doesn't answer at all..... |
Too Funny! Nab is Nab-e-rific, Nab-er-owski, Super duper popper skooper or Doddle Bug...She does answer to doddle, bug or Nab. I don't think she knows her real name any more! Oh ya, I forgot, Daddies little girl and Big black furry butt.
Della & Nab |
Oh...I forgot the cats nick names...Food or snack...also known as Whisper! |
For Harley our German Shepherd we call him.... Harley D, Sh*t Breath, Poop Eater, Dumb Sh*t, Wide Body and Dopey. Don't get me wrong... We love the Big Dummy We could definitely do without his nasty breath from eating poop and he is dumb as a box of rocks...but oh so lovable.
Pepsi our OES, we have only had for two month but so far... Peps, Pepsi Cola, Mr Wigglebutt, and Cotton Ball because he has such a big fluffy white soft head. Peanut, my toy poodle... the only akc registered dog I have... His registered name is "Lissy's Little Peanut". Nicknames... Nutter, Nutter Butter, Nutter McButter, Peaby (when my son was younger he couldn't say Peanut and called him Peaby...we all use it now. Elissa |
Bump.
This is a fun post and I still think it's a fun one for the newbies to see! As of late, Pooh Bear has gotten a few more names added to the list: Poobst, "Da Pooh Bear" (2 year old down the block), "Pooh Dog", Poohper PeePee licker, other R rated names..... |
I'm glad you bumped this - how funny! Bailey's dad calls him Mr. B, and I call him Cookie Face (all puppy treats are called cookies in our house) or Wiggle Butt. |
I'm done with work, waiting for my ride reading posts and had to read EVERY ONE of these!!!! laughing my BUTT OFF. It's like we all have the same dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, almost the same dog, THANK GOD Tasker doesn't eat poop, that one really grossed me out
Tasker is: Wiggle Butt or Stink Butt (we are ALL butt obsessed I think), Slug Muffin (he's REALLY lazy), Ratzelfratzle (I have no idea where that one came from) and in his early years I was sure he was going to think his name was D@mn it dog!!!! |
Thought I posted on this thread before, but must have been a senior moment!
Drez also has a variety of names: Drezzer, Drezderella, Mooch Pooch, Baby Girl, Silly Slimer, Wigglebutt, Drezdini (after Houdini, the great escape artist!). Chris |
Truman is Truey, Tru Tru, Shaggy Dog, Tutty Buddy, Monkey Boy, Tut, and Dog Dog. Don't ask me how we come up with this stuff. I think we must be a little off center! Anyone listening to us talk to him would be able to confirm it. Oh, well - who cares! We love him!!! |
This is too funny
We have Beau-Bubba, Bubbilicious, BoBo butt and Boman Luke- Pukey Lukey, Lucas and LuLu Rosco-Roscyboy,Roscoreeni, and occasional ones I can't say Daisy-babygirl,dayday,daisalini and sometimes no bark big mouth I always swore I would never call my dogs anything but their proper names I think their name for me is big sucker |
"Miss Momoko Fimbrethil" - Momo, Fimby, Miss Fimbrethil, Miss Priss, Brat, Drama Queen (what?! She is!) My girly, Girl, Girly, Fluffy.

Jasper is Jasper, sweet boy, big boy, fluffinator (what my 3 yr old calls him, lol), Jasper boy, handsome fella, bouncer, hyper boy (that applies to all 3 of my boys though, lol)
He probably thinks NO and OFF are nicknames too, he hears them so often. Allie is just Allie, Allie girl, pretty girl, and Allie cat. |
Tigger is my older kitty cat that's I guess my dad's cat. I've have had him for 12-13 years on mother's day. He was born on Mother's day - I could hardly believe it.
The last three are my hedgehogs - they stay with Brad right now. Luna is my little girl albino hedgehog - she was pregnant when I got her... I nearly died because I thought Candy might be a boy! O_o A quick look down... nope! She was a biter when we first got her - but Brad has finally broken her of it. Candy is my little sweet pea! ^_^ She will deliberatly sit out of her covers at night so we will pick her up and snuggle her back to warm again. She loooooves sleeping on Brad's belly and loves snoozing on my chest. She likes to dig on your skin though - and it tickles terribly! I have no pictures of Moonsan - but he is pretty big on comparison with the girls. He is Luna's son that we have hand raised and we did pretty good! ^_^ No biting and was very sweet. His sister is Hufflepuff (or Pinky). My cousin is currenly watching over her and loving her like a mama should. |
I love this! I have lots of nicknames for both the dogs!

Lucy: Lucifer, Lucydog and Queen of the Couch-- she's not supposed to be on the couch while we're gone but there's always a telltale ring of fur! |

Jules now is: 1. "Sheepie" or "Sheep" 2. "Ju-Ju-B" 3. "Ju-Ja-Ba" 4. "Stuupie" 5. "Mountain Goat" because she stands on the back of the couch 6. "Seagull or Scavenger" because she is a dumpster diver 8. "Bossy Flossy" because she is very bossy and has to be in control 9. And believe it or not.....Her original name was supposed to be "Julia"....and the first day we brought her home the family shortened it to Jules. I am sure there are more....this is an evolving thing. |
Well, Pooh Bear had Pooh Diddy for a spell, but we've shortened it to just Piddy......
