Go for it! Do it just for fun and if you win it's a bonus!!!! |
I know it has been a long time since I went to a dog show but I have a question. Don't OES have to be in full coat to be shown. There was a dog there who was clipped pretty short. I know one of you would know. |

They are supposed to be, but more and more trimming is done lately.... also, the dog could have been previously shaved down and is just growing coat back. |
I'm not sure where you live. The USA is divided into 'regions'. Each region takes a different number of dogs and a different number of bitches to make up the point schedules. You have to have 15 pts to be a CH., and of those 15 points 2 of the shows have to be 3 point majors under different judges.
What may have been was the dog was brought in to hold the points to make a major.......... or as Stacey said, she/he had been clipped down previously and was just getting back into coat....... I happen to have one of those and will be bringing her back out........ hope this helps!! |
What show were you at? |

Though I am not surprised this happens, and have always suspected it happens more often than not at some out-of-the-way show, IMO this is utter crap and devalues what legitimate champions have achieved. |
it has been something that has happend for as long as I've been showing/owning OES............
I'll say this. If it is a dog that is good, I don't care if it is shaved to the skin. I would rather see a totally shaved GOOD OES put up, than one in full coat that has a horrible rear and cannot move!! |

But sticking a shaved dog in the ring to make the win a major, or to pull more points is bunk. |
teased has nothing to do with it.
I would rather have a dog shorter in hair and teased with some spray than looking like some i've seen from oversea's that look horrible at least the dogs have some shape and don't smell |
some find the smell attractive! |
