Watch out for the flooding by Hutchinson, KS. They got about 8 inches of rain there in the last day. Got your earplugs?? Chum's collar is great. Someday I will have a girl sheepie I can dress up! |

Safe travels, friend. Hope the weather cooperates for everyone!
Chum's new collar is beautiful!! She'll be the "belle of the ball!" Not like we have to tell YOU, but of course - pictures, pictures, pictures!! |
Aw, Chris, when you said Chum would be the Belle of the Ball, I started crying. There's only one Belle of the Ball, and Chum will also represent her in the parade. If that's okay with her, that is. (Did that come out right? I'm not dissing Chum, just honoring Miss Belle.)
Chum's collar IS beau-ti-ful and it suits her. I can't wait to see you guys again!! Have a safe trip. |
Val you don't know how long I have been waiting to meet Chummie! Harry is anxious for Maggie - playtime!!!!!!!!
Val please be very careful and we will see you tomorrow night! I love the collar - she is quite lovely! |
What a snazzy collar!

That is a beautiful collar. OMG I can't believe tomorrow night - I get to meet Chum and Maggie and Harry and Chewie and Samsun and Bear and Clyde and Oliver and Simon and Clay and Bentley and Barney and Maggie and Nelson and Wild Angel and ... and ... OMG - I am so excited.
(Can somebody call my boss and ask him can I go home early? I need to go buy London, Sam, Lucky, and Johnnie raincoats and new fancy collars... - Oh forget it - we can be the Cajun Redneck Cousins that Jeff Foxworthy talks about. Does anyone know how to make a dog collar out of a Walmart plastic bag? ) |
HAVE A SAFE TRIP and A WONDERFUL TIME! Love the collar! I'm so jealous! |
I have GOT to stop reading the Sheepiepalooza threads! |
ME TOO,
Drive safe val, look forward to lots of photos of the day and love love love chums collar. (there's that lil green man again, brie asked me to put him there in awe of chums girly pink floral collar) |
Oh yeah - well I was informed today that we will NOT be getting out early today. Well I was planning on that - so I, the co-host will be late to the party!!!!!
Then after running around to pick up things for Sheepiepalooza - I come home late and realize that Harry needs to be groomed better because he is matting around his butt. I know he is going to be a mess after a weekend of intense playing so I need to stay ahead of the game. We wish you were here too, Laurel and Lisa. Of course we gave you enough notice to drive, boat or swim. |
That is no fun, Judi. Don't they know at work how vital you are to Sheepiepalooza??!
We moved up our start time abit, so hope to be on the road by 0630 instead of 0800. About a 9 hr drive - so sometime late afternoon. Remember, we have the extra Super 8 motel room, but need to cancel by 4 pm if not needed! I will not be around a computer, so call my cell 507-340-5069 if interested! See you soon! |
We had an uneventful drive yesterday, Weather was good, roads were clear, Chum was barking like a maniac.
Vet said I could give her up to 4 Valium to calm her down. So over the last week, I've been experimenting with dosages. 1 did nothing. 2 did nothing. Yesterday I gave her three. They kicked in just as she was crossing a large muddy puddle, caused her rear legs to collapse. Plop! My prissy Chum soaked in mud. She was wobbly but LOUD the rest of the ride. Barking was constant until about 3pm. At that point, she would take a pause for 20 seconds every 15 minutes or so (til we went over a bump or she saw a truck). By 6 pm, she was only barking 5 -7 minutes at a time with blissful 2-4 minutes of silence in between. There were times when I could not believe how long a minute of silence felt. At one point, in Salina, the highway was surrounded by deep water on both sides. My first thought was "wow - a marsh right here in the middle of kansas??" then I remembered about the flooding. One of the exits for the town was closed and the whole area was soaked with deep water. Billboards were partially covered, only crowns of trees visible. The highway was on high ground though so it was clear and safe. We arrived in Topeka last night and went to a really lovely dog park -- the Bark Park at Gage Park. It was built by Hill's company and there were tons of happy dogs and nice people. I'll be heading out again today in a couple hours. This time Chum is going cold turkey. |
Awwww Chummie! We are so glad you are coming and feel so honored that you are making the trip especially since you are not fond of the car rides. I will give you extra hugs tonight if you will let me. |
