I shaved both of the dogs down to bare-nekkid this past weekend, as well as moving some lumber (we had to check to make sure we had all the necessary pieces for our summer art booth). Somewhere in all that, I managed to tear a muscle in my upper back . So it was off to the doctor for me, and a few days of ice, muscle relaxants, and heavy doses of Ibeprofin. Well, then this morning, when I reached for my pill (an 800 miligram Ib.) that was sitting a a low table next to my chair, I was horrified to see that it had vanished....and Abby was chewing something! So....a call to animal poison control, and an induced vomit later.... .....I find the pill, fallen under the table, where of course, in my panic I hadn't thought to look! |

Oh no! poor you and poor Abby. At least she didn't swallow your pill....that is one good thing, even tho you made her vomit anyway!
I hope you have a speedy recovery! |
ummmmm, how about thinking of it as a messy dry run for the real thing???
OK LOL !! (sorry) And I really do hope you feel better soon. The upper back is my chronic weak spot too - old injury at work. |

Caught that one - did ya???!! |
Yuck! Oh well, better safe than sorry
(I had an uncalled for vomit session when I was a kid--my brother told my parents I ate mushrooms from the yard (I didn't) and off to the hospital and a heaping dose of charcoal!) |

I'm sorry!!! i hope your back feels better soon. |
Ouch to your back!!! Poor thing. Wish our dogs could carry stuff around for us to help you out!
Glad you found the pill!!!!! Glad you didn't have to worry about her being okay or not anymore! I had to call poison control for the same thing... TWICE in one day about 4 months ago! |
Big bummer, Laurel! I hope Abby got an extra helping of breakfast after her morning upchuck!
Feel better. Laurie and Oscar |
Wow, crappy day.... I hope you're feeling better soon! |
Sorry Laurel.
I hope you feel better soon. |
That does sound like a sucky day. I hope tonight is better for you. . . Glad that Abby didn't swallow the pill. |
Poor Abbie, minding her own business and Mama attackes her and makes her throw up. Something that she is usually decouraged to do. Although Laurel I know you are happy you were wrong, and at least it was not like she did it in the bed, or under the stairs, or in your shoe, or next to the bed, or even in the car going 60. I am sure she will one day forgive you. |
Bad days suck don't they , but happy all turned out well |
My mother had stock in Ipecac.
That didn't stop my from licking the outlets though. Sorry about your back. Take it from me, don't spend too much time immobile. |
Laurel: sorry to hear about your back, ouch! I hope you feel better soon. Please give Abbey a big sheepie hug for me. |

Well, Abby and I are both feeling MUCH better today! Ice, pain meds and muscle relaxants have worked wonders. My worst mistake, initially, had been to treat this injury like I do my long-standing shoulder problem ....with heat. My doctor said that since it is a swelling, rather that a muscle-cramping problem, that I was actually making it worse! She's also starting me on physical therapy on Tuesday. PLUS, this means a "get out of booth-building and packing" pass for me, for the next several shows! |
So glad you are feeling better, hope things continue to improve. |
Glad you are on the mend |
Our youngest sheepie has a bad habit of seeking out everything not fit to eat. She found an aspirin bottle in the counter (yes, I know...counter surfing is a no-no) and ate bottle AND contents.
We gave her a couple tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide mixed with milk and up everything came (fortunately in the back yard...not in the house). All pills accounted for thank goodness! |
