I don't even think it's the melamine itself that is the problem. The Chinese admitted they've been spiking food for years with it to artificially increase the protein content. My guess it's a pesticide, or a combination of the two. |
Also, there are two new additions to the Menu Foods CANADA recall that were added yesterday. These items were omitted in the May 2nd recall and are said to be off retail shelves but individuals should check any stock on hand.

I just got an email from Itchmo and one from Purina earlier today. Both mention melamine AND cyanuric acid. These were both mentioned by the AVMA earlier this month... http://www.avma.org/press/releases/0705 ... recall.asp This is what Purina mentioned in their email (NOT about their product, but rather the recall in general)... "...The recall, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is the result of contamination—specifically the contamination of ingredients with melamine and cyanuric acid, substances not approved for use in food..."
