Looks cool! |
I've seen that pair before, might be the same video,... they really are amazing... I could watch that for hours. |
WOW |
I love dressage, whenever we attend the three day event competition at Fair Hill I try to watch this part. If I were not so old and unskilled and our horses, well kinda like donkeys, I would love to do this!!! It is so beautiful to watch. Like a ballet. |
That was awesome!! I did dressage in college, and the WORK that went into that performance is mind boggling!
I had tears running down my face just watching . |
That video truly is awe-inspiring. The mare is only 9 so it's quite something that she is doing Grand Prix already. My favorite is the passage and how the horse hovers while going forward. Bob the Wonder Pony and I never made it past 2nd level. When he injured his leg last year I asked the vet if this meant canter pirouettes were out of the question. |
Wow, what fun! Never saw anything like it. Most fascinating thing to me was that I didn't see the rider give any commands at all. |

And that's what dressage is all about. You are not supposed to see the rider giving aids. Everything should be invisible! I think that's why people say "it's the horse that does all the work." NOT! |
He did do a great job with his cues. If you watch it again, watch his heels - the easiest to see in the video. He is alternating sides (left and right) with pressure and release, also the point on the mare's body that he places his heel is part of the cue.
Less visible is the subtle changes in his arms, hands and even the amount of flex in his wrists and fingers. He is also using his body and his seat - forward, backward, left and right. Horses can even feel if your buns are relaxed or tight! |
Awesome, I liked the first part it made me think of a kid happily skiping down the street. And thanks Dawn for the hint on what to watch for |
wow...that way really, really cool.....how does one go about training a horse to do that? Is it just the rider or is there someone else on the ground watching his feet?? |
