Since the majority of dogs are under anesthesia during the xray procedure, it would make sense to do both at one visit. Ask your veterinarian to be sure.
Check out the Orthopaedic Foundation For Animals web site for more info: http://www.offa.org/ |
My vet did all of the joint x-rays at the same time for both Quincy (7 years ago) and Oscar. Oscar just had his x-rays done when he had surgery a few weeks back, as he was almost three years old, and needed to be under anesthesia for the tumor removal anyway. Everything went well and Oscar's joints are in great shape (hips rated excellent).
Good luck to Murphy! Laurie |
Mine have always had hips and elbows done at the same time, no big deal as under anesthesia worth while getting both done together, just an extra x-ray of the elbow area and not as expensive as the hips.
An oes should always have a score of 0-0 on each elbow. Worthwhile having both done at the same time while there out to it. |
