I have been away from the site for awhile but thought I would post a note to say that Earnie has fully recovered from the bloat surgery but yesterday he had another smaller surgery and had a hemangioma (we think) removed from behind his ear. Anyone heard of this and is it common? Poor Earnie has had a rough go of it. Teddy is also recovering from being neutered. I have some slowwwww Sheepies at the moment. So strange. Hope all is well with all you other Sheepie lovers. |

So glad to hear about Earnie doing so well after the surgery for bloat.
Have a read of this thread, hematomas are not uncommon and only a minor op to stop the hematoma filling up again. Jaci (6 girls) has posted a great link to explain all about them so go to that link and have a read of that too. Give earnie a hug from us. http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=13620&start=0 |
That's what I thought at first too but it's actually a different condition.
I wasn't going to post this link because it also talks about another condition that has a similar name but it ends in sarcoma... THAT condition is cancerous. So disregard THAT info on the reference page below... ok? The term you posted "hemangioma" is said to be a benign lump but from what I read, they recommend that the entire growth be removed. Source: http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dhemangio.html#Hemangioma "...Hemangiomas are a benign lump formed by blood vessel tissues that occur in the skin..." I imagine they sent it out to get a definitive diagnosis? One of my sheepies had a histiocytoma removed earlier this year... this too was a benign growth. Hugs to your recuperating furry kids. |
Aw, Earnie, get better fast. Rosco and Luke send you some of their treats, the really good stuff....LIVER |
