Phew.... My passport just arrived!
We are staying at my parents tomorrow night. Then early Saturday we are headed to LAX and off to Cancun for 7 days. This has been a major drama getting my passport. I applied 11 1/2 weeks ago. I was told when I applied that it would take approx 6 weeks. When I got home I looked on their website and it said up to 10 weeks... Okay, I was cool with that. That means at the lastest it would arrive a week and a half before my trip. Well the 10 week mark rolls around and nothing. 
Billy calls about his and they say they are going to put a rush on his and mine. I call a few days later to check the status, Billy's in done and being put into the mail. He got his on May 2nd. They upgraded his to rush status and did nothing with mine. So a few days go by, no changes on their website I call.... They said they had already put a rush on it, but it was up to the local agency to rush it through. So they put another rush order from the National Agency. This was last week. I ask if I can just make an appt at the local agency to pick it up. You must have an appt to go there, since I had no faith in the fact they would get it to me in time. So they say sure...call back the 800 # so it goes like this: You are put into some computer system where they start asking your questions. "Would you like to check for the next available appt?" so I say Yes. "Please hold while we check for an appt for that day" 15 minutes later the computer comes back and says. "We do not have any appts for that day, Would you like to try the next day?" I say, YES! Next I hear Morning or afternoon? So I say morning....another 15 minutes on hold so this stupid computer can check for appt times between 7am -12pm. What the hell takes 15 minutes?????? This is a computer????? Being run my a gerbil running on a wheel I bet. Anyway....the computer comes back to tell me their are no appts for the morning, thank you for calling, and it proceeds to hang up on me. I call back, negotiate their archaic phone system again and back to the evil computer. This time I give a date to check, then ask for morning, 15 minutes pass by...... No appts available, would you like to check the afternoon. Um YES!!! I get through another 5 days of morning and afternoons to find out their are no appts at all. Then I got booted off the system again after checking for Friday appts, Call back.....at this point I am furious. Negotiate the damn automated system cursing the whole way through. This time I am able to check for Monday to Friday of this week. NO APPTS AVAILABLE!!!! Over the past almost two weeks now I have spent a total of 10 hrs on hold or negiotiating the phone system with the National Passport Agency. Monday they said it was done! But there were no changes on their website. Tuesday they gave me a priority mail reference #...... which didn't help me at all. I have been so stressed out over this. So finally it has arrived! 
The worst part of it all was Billy was going with or without me.
His boss said I paid X amount for this trip and you are going. So all week I have been checking into changing my flight...etc Since I was completely at the mercy of the passport agency...... So now I can official announce that Yes indeed, I will be going to Cancun with my husband as planned.  |

You might have had to have someone express mail it to you in Cancun so you could come home! Or just stay there.... Have a blast! |

They wouldn't have even let me board the plane to go to Cancun! The passport agency even had my birth certificate. I was completely at their mercy. I don't think I would have minded getting stuck there. 
But the thought of hubby going on this trip (which is basically our honeymoon 3 yrs late) did not make me very happy. |

Cancun is at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, which is on the Caribbean Sea. The place we are staying is actually a bit south of Cancun in Riviera Maya. |

| Have a safe trip and due to everyone here getting sick ....my advice is to TAKE SOME AIRBORNE (medicine you dissolve in water) on the days you travel and have fun! |

| Phew! I'm so glad it arrived. That's one less thing you have to worry about now. I'm so jealous. I would love to be able to plunk myself down on a beach and just sit there for 7 days.

| The Sheepies are at the kennel. Pepsi was very upset. Hope he's okay....he is together with Rags so hopefully they'll be fine.
Getting ready to leave the house now. Hmm always feel like I am forgetting something. ( I have the passport, itinerary and my ID) I guess I could always buy it later if I need it.
Just found out they have an internet room, so I might stop in to say hi....or not. I'll miss you guys!!! |
