Sheepiepalooza - IMPORTANT NOTICE for travelling in MO

For all those planning the trip to St. Louis for the Sheepiepalooza, Please note the following:

Watch your speed in work areas-no warning is given; if you are caught you lose your license and I think the fine is $1000! We've lost too many workers in construction zones.

If it's raining enough to have your wipers on, you must have your headlights on

No need to reply to this post, I placed this as a special thread to it would get your attention if you're driving.

Thanks.

Thanks George! What about tornadoes? How do we learn if there is a risk? Are some roads more prone to it than others?
And if you travel on I-44, watch out for the gentlemen parked on the bridges with their radar guns & a patrol car further down the road to stop you. We also seem to run into the spotter planes with their patrol car buddies. Actually, that's my husband getting stopped, not me.
Tornadoes havn't been a big threat in the St. Louis area, however the best place to monitor while on the road is the radio, tune in to AM 1120, 50000 watt KMOX talk radio and sports; FM Public radio 90.7or Classical 99.1; all will most weather emergencies.

Rush Hour: 7-9am, 4-6pm KMOX gives weather, sports and traffic updates at 10 and 20 min. past the hour.
Is there going to be a problem traveling for some due to the flooding and levee breaks in MO?

I've thought about that as well. My husband and I traveled to Iowa for a funeral this past weekend and encountered several closed highways on the Iowa side of the border. It is coming this way but I think a lot can happen in two weeks....for better or worse. I think we will be more apt to answer those questions as we get closer to time but of course the Missouri Highway Patrol can tell you if any roads are closed. I'll see if I can find a website or phone number to post.
Here is the link on the MO State Highway Patrol website that gives a map of road conditions.

http://www.modot.gov/road_conditions/Wi ... itions.htm

I know the link says "winter road conditions" but if you click on the map it does say Flood Conditions. I also called to verify that it would be updated with any flood related closings.

I used 1-888-ASK-MoDOT. If you are traveling you can use *55 on your cellular phone to be connected to the emergency Highway Patrol operator.
Thanks for bringing that up; from what I hear in the news, there shouldn't be any problems in the St. Louis area, but there is some flooding in the Kansas City area and in some of the small towns in northwest MO where some of the levys failed.
