Oliver started off doing great, no pooping in the house or crate. He was doing so great at 13 weeks, that we decided to give him a bit more freedom. When we were home, we didn't confine him to the same room we were in (he likes to lay in the bathroom for some reason). We'd check on him every once in awhile, but he was doing great. However, he is going back to being confined in the room because he has pooped in the floor (hardwoods, thank goodness) three times this week!!! It is sick! How is everyone else doing with the potty training? |

I don't know how I missed this post....as I am right were you are in the middle of potty training!
In my opinion, at 13 weeks Oliver is too young to be out of his crate and not be in the same room as you. Scarlet is now the same age and I can't imagine what kind of havoc she would cause if I didn't have her in the same room as me when she wasn't crated At 13 weeks Oliver might just be able to realize he has to potty, but they don't usually have the muscle control until closer to 16 weeks. The dog school where I took my dogs, recommends leashing the dogs to you when they are this age..... I haven't had to do this yet as Scarlet stays within eyesight of me when she is out of the crate. |
