Since one of the objectives for the Sheepiepalooza is to stimulate enough interest in local OES owners to form an ongoing group that might evolve into a specialty club, I have been in touch with AKC for their organizational package and I then had asked Nancy Smith, VP OESCA, if OESCA could provide any support to our endeavors. She called me back today and we had a looong conversation about OESCA membership and I detailed the enthusiastic response we received for the picnic. See seems to be aware of much of the concerns expressed in our earlier thread and was excited about our objectives. So much so she emailed us the names of OESCA members in Missouri (2 are in the St. L. Area). As a result I have filled out a membership ap and two of our forum members have agreed to sponsor me. Maybe I can do some small part to further the good of our breed and educate our local market to seek responsible breeders. I can't help but think that when local owners see the enthusiasm our forum members have about their dogs, the'll see that their house pets have a lot more potential and could be happier dogs. |

Best wishes george and wishing you all the success in getting things up and running. Really wonderful endeavour you are trying to achieve for the sheepies in your area.
I am keeping fingers crossed for you and also hoping the support is forthcoming for you from people who have sheepies in the area and good support from the OESCA to help get all this up and going, as it is a wonderful wonderful thing you are doing for the benefit of the breed. |
Good luck George! I think it's wonderful you are taking such initiative.. |
Good luck George!! I admire your initiative. I am really excited to attend Sheepiepalooza. |
That sounds good George. LeAnne and I both are new members. We joined primarily to support the breed in performance, even though we are showing Chewie in the breed ring at the moment.
Chewie's breeder is the performance chair for the national specialty, and we are helping out. It is always good to get more members interested in doing obedience, rally, agility and herding. |
