After two sheepdogs and some major undercarriage on Pyrs, I have a box of blades that need sharpening. Any suggestions? |

Neve used them, but I have 4 blades that all need to be sharpened. |
those ones from petedge dont work, ruin blades, u need to have them professionally sharpened |
The people I know take them to shows and have them resharpened. Shows that are bigger with vendors usually have a blade and scissors sharpener or 2 there.
That is how I get my scissors resharpened. I have one that I am getting done next weekend. |
If you are talking about devices such as the "HandiHone", don't waste your money. Do a search for "HandiHone Reviews" and see all of the unhappy customers.
Clipper blades should always be professionally sharpened. There is no proven "at home" way of sharpening your blades. The problem here is finding a good sharpener, or a sharpener that uses the proper equipment to sharpen your blades. The best way to find a qualified sharpener is to ask your local pet groomers. They may not be able to tell you who the best is, but they can certantly tell you whom to stay away from. I have heard some bad stories about groomers that take their tools to grooming shows to have them sharpened. Once they get home with their tools they find out that they aren't sharp, and the vendor does not return calls, or honor their return policy. When getting your scissors sharpened at grooming shows always take a handfull of your pets hair with you in a zip lock baggie. When they hand you back your scissors pull out your baggie of hair, and give them a test run. If they don't cut hand them back to the sharpener and say "try again". If anyone needs any help finding a sharpener in their area, leave a post and I'll see what I can do to help you find one closest to you. Richard Southern Sharpeners |

Richard,
Do you do mail order sharpening? |
Hello Ron,
We most certantly do offer mail order clipper blade sharpening. We also offer to our customers mail order clipper repair. We are a full service sharpener. Knives, scissors, clipper blades, woodworking tools, paper cutters, ect... If anyone is interested in my services please send me a private message and I'll send you all the information that you'll need. This way we won't clog up the group with what would be deemed as advertising by some. Richard Southern Sharpeners |
