We prefer to clip our Henry ourselves, but have had a nightmare of a time finding clippers that are sturdy and durable enough to get through his coat. I'm thinking sheep shears or horse clippers since "normal" dog clippers don't seem to do the job. Any suggestions? |

We used the Oster Golden A5. It's a single speed model, and I believe that they make one that is 2 speed. It's about $125 with a #10 blade, but check out
Oster Golden A5 single speed animal clipper But the two speed is probably a better value for about $10 more. People seem to love the Two Speed in its Turbo Mode: Two Speed Golden A5 Clipper The problem might not be the clipper, it might be the blade that you're trying. We found that the #10 blade is quite difficult to get through our sheepdog's hair, so we went to a SKIP TOOTH blade. The Skip tooth blade worked like magic, like a hot knife through butter (and any other cliches I can come up with). I found a picture of one here: And I get lots of hits with this search at google: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl ... ooth+blade As for which skip tooth, or even if skip tooth is the right blade for your situation, I am not sure... I'm not a groomer. Maybe others with more grooming experience than I have can chime in. -Ron. PS -- May I suggest you register here at the forum?
