THOUSANDS of Japanese have been swindled in a scam in which they were sold Australian and British sheep and told they were poodles.

Flocks of sheep were marketed as fashionable accessories -- available at $1600 each -- by a company called Poodles as Pets.
A real poodle retails for twice that much in Japan.

The scam was uncovered when Japanese film star Maiko Kawamaki went on a talk-show and wondered why her new pet would not bark or eat dog food. She was crestfallen when told it was a sheep.

Hundreds of other women got in touch with police to say they feared their new "poodle" was also a sheep.

One couple said they became suspicious when they took their "dog" to have its claws trimmed and were told it had hooves. Police believe there could be 2000 people affected by the scam

LOL that is so very odd!
Seriously....... are they that foolish??
ROTFLMAO
OMG, can't stop laughing  ........
How could they not realise it was a lamb and not a puppy!!

If you can pull a scam like that and people are daft enough to fall for it then good on you. lol lol

That will makeme laugh all day!!
WHAT???? 8O
I'm saying nothing ?!?!
Ever try to housebreak a sheep??? :rimshot:
If they're that dumb, someone could sell them a OES as a Panda Bear!
Hey now! Let's try to remember that not all cutures are as familiar with farm animals as we are in the west! It's not exactly like Japan is the sheep capitol of the world here people. I don't like it when people are scammed, period. It's not fair to play on people's ignorance like that. Frankly, I don't think it is very funny either.

(ahem umm... excuse the hormonal pregnant lady's tirade. I stepping off the soapbox now)
I hate scams too, but 2000 people may be involved? 8O Maybe 200 completely, totaly clueless folks but not 2000. A poodle isn't exactly 12 Daily Pro. (which by the way, the majority of investors in that scam were in Utah).
:excited: Unbelievable!!!!

(I have a bridge and some swamp land for sale for them)
