Couldn't believe Blake and Lakaisha were in the bottom 3 too. Phil did better this week, but I wasn't impressed by Chris and thought he should have been down there. Guess he's the new Sanjaya . . . |

Jordin actually brought tears to my eyes last night. My mother used to sing that song to my sister and me. And, Jordin did it so beautifully. Pirate came over, and gently licked my cheek. I don't know if he knew I was crying, or he just liked the salty taste. I believe Jordin should really be the Idol. She young, cute, fashionable and extremely talented. |
Jordin's the only one I saw sing - missed the rest of the show. Jordin was fantastic, I agree! How did everyone else do? |
I,personally, think Jordin was the standout. I don't think anyone did badly. They all gave their usual performances. It seems like the Judges are really picking on Lakisha, and I don't know why. And they keep promoting Chris...which I totally don't get! |
I agree I don't think Chris has ever done a good job and I am constantly wondering when the judges are talking to him if we are hearing the same performance. I think Lakisha did a much better job last night than Chris did and the week before as well. |
Sigh... I miss Sanjaya
But watching Jack Black sing is nearly as good |
Well...I thought that was very stupid and very cruel. |

I agree. This really upset me. Bosley's mom |
Who is Jack Black? |
Jack Black is an actor/comedian. He was in School of Rock, Shallow Hall, King Kong and most recently The Holiday (along with many others that were WAY too goofy for me). He also has a band called Tenacious D.
I didn't watch much of American Idol last night so I don't know what the other posts are referring to. |
Jack Black is a comedian/actor guy. He was in School of Rock and The Holiday (with Cameron Diaz). He also 'sings' and has a band, and he got up on the Idol stage to sing and ask for truthful criticism from the judges.
I liked the part with him singing...the judges part was stupid. I didn't think it was cruel because it was obviously scripted, but it just wasn't funny. You'd think that they could come up with better 'mean' material than that. I had a problem with this show as a whole. I might get jumped on for saying this, but, while I understand and feel sympathy for the situation in Africa, there are a LOT of poverty stricken and sick people here in America--you'd think that someone would want to help them first. (What with it being AMERICAN Idol and all) |
Oh! I agree 100%!!!!! When they first announced this American Idol gives back, it seemed like it was for Africa completely....I have a gut feeling the America "give back" part was an after thought, because they received a lot of flack. I'm sick of the celebrities giving all their proceeds to Africa, adopting babies from Africa, begging for Africa...when all they need to do is look around our country. And it's not just Katrina victims! In every state of the Union we have poor, homeless, adults, childrens and babies. (getting off my soapbox now, and apologizing for my political rant) |

Again, I didn't watch much of the show...but wasn't there something about the Katrina victims as well? Were all of the funds raised going to Africia? Regardless, I understand what you are saying. We no doubt have problems in our own country that need to be addressed. However, I think the situation in Africa is chilling. I don't think third world countries can recover from the mass amounts of famine and outbreak of disease without help. What is even more bothersome to me is the growing number of child soldiers. What kind of future can you hope to have if you breed such violence into children? I'm all for sending aid to the children of Africa. After all, they are the future. JMHO. |
This whole show was about nothing other than collecting money, trying to make Simon look compassionate, trying to make Paula look smart, and trying to make Randy look like something other than a "dawg."
I commend them for at least trying to do something. Ryan said towards the end of the show that so far they had raised $30 million, half of which stays in the US, the other half goes to Africa. Wonder how much of that money will actually GO to the people who need it, and not to some bureacratic gobble-dee-gook to "administer" the funds to those who need it. Anyway, I think what Deb was referring to when she said it was rude and cruel was the way they "eliminated" the contestants. If that's what you meant, Deb, I TOTALLY agree!! They took it to the end (of course) and the last two remaining contestants were Chris and Jordin. You KNEW it had to be Chris going home, instead he was pronounced safe. You could hear a pin drop in the audience, thinking Jordin was going home. Then he pronounced her safe as well. "How could we send anyone home on a night of charity?" Poor Jordin!! She was crying her eyes out. Bottom line - Tuesday night's votes will be combined with next week's votes, and two people will go home. I think this show is trying a bit too hard to be more than a reality singer show. Ugh. |
Yes, Chris...that was what I was refering to. It broke my heart, after they announced no one was going home, to see Jordin crying. I think she'd believed she was going...and that was cruel. It is important to bring awareness about the needs of all the citizens of the world to light. I just don't think they should have mixed the competition with the fundraiser. It should have been a separate show, and not taken away from the contestants. (Man! I'm on a tear today!) |

Ahem, that MS. DEBORAH to you! |

I agree that it was cruel to make Jordin think she was going home. If they were going to waive the elimination, they should have done it another way. And they certainly shouldn't have wasted 4 hour of people's voting time for nothing. If I'd actually bothered to vote, I'd be offended.
Honestly, The only things that entertained me last night were Jack Black, who I thought was funny, and the fact the the remaining contestants are so dull that everyone was forced to bring up Sanjaya's name over and over. I think I counted 8 references to Sanjaya and countless views of him in the audience. How come last week he was "ruining Idol and this week they can't stop talking about him? Geez, make up your minds! The rest of the show last night was shameless pandering for cash and I can't believe I wasted my time watching it, even if it was just out of the corner of one eye while I was surfing the web |
Well.... America finally got it right! |
I agree.
What was up with Simon and Ryan and all the 'girlfriend' talk in the beginning of the show? |
Goodbye Chris, can't believe you lasted as long as you did.
I think it's a no brainer at this point. I really expected Melinda to turn in a bad performance on Bon Jovi night - and she was amazing. That girl is unstoppable. |
As much as I would love Jordin to win, I think its Melinda, and that is just fine and dandy with me! |
I agree - I like Jordin. She's very sweet and has a terrific voice. But, there's just no way around the fact that Melinda can do it all. She's terrific. |
YAMIN got his grill fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much nicer. My mil loves his long hair. I am partial to short hair. Looked better to me.
Well if we look at Kelly Pickler, we know that making it to the final 3 isn't all so bad. Still shocking who got booted. |
DID YOU SEE THE OES ON MELINDA'S BED during the ford commercial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have one the same size!! I was so excited. |
Joahaeyo wrote: DID YOU SEE THE OES ON MELINDA'S BED during the ford commercial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering who would be the first to chime in about that! Go Blake! |
Eh...
I think Blake and Jordin both have a lot of potential marketability, but I can't quite get on either of their boats. Blake to me annoys me with ALWAYS having to do the beat box scat thing. And Jordin is good, but she's not consistent... If I had to guess, I'll say Jordin wins. |
Even when I know winning is just about bragging rights, I don't know what I want.
Jordin has some celebrity votes due to her daddy. I think out of the 2, she CLEARLY is better. I simply want her to win just because she has the bestest name in the world. Blake, on so many songs, shows he's not on the same level as the diva girls were, but then again... did anyone listen to maroon 5 last night? They sucked so bad that I'm sure after getting lots of mail... they'll be embarrassed since they're on a singing/talent show. I think Blake should win if we're looking for different. It seems like there are plenty Jordin winners (past AI's), but no Blakes... In the end, I think America will vote for J. |
I was STUNNED!!! Melinda got robbed because she NEVER had a bad performance. I have no qualms that she has a HUGE career ahead of her, and I try to calm myself down by reminding myself how Chris Daughtry is doing very well, after he was the favored one last year. But I was still angry! |
I'm not sure what the heck Blake was wearing in his second song.... his white tie, blue button down shirt, with checkered gray and yellow sweater over it was just funky (not a cool funky).
Jordin's second performance was amazing! |
Wow, the finale was awful. And that final song? Terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last season of AI. |
I agree about the final song. Out of all the entrants they got, they chose THAT one to be the best? Doesn't say much for the others, does it?
If going on pure talent alone, Jordin has to win. Blake is fun to watch as he jumps around the stage, but his vocals are not on the same level as Jordin's. The Maroon 5 song was disappointing, and the final song was just not up his alley either. BUT - anything can happen! We'll see tonight! |
Yeah, that final song was BAD--although it was interesting to see how much better Jordin sang it than Blake.
It'd be kind of cool to have someone win who isn't a mega singer, though. It seems all the winners have been very strong vocalists and their careers have been mostly power songs, so it'd be kind of fun to have Blake win since he's more of an entertainer and less of a singer. I know that didn't make much sense...I guess maybe I mean his songs will be good and catchy, but they'll be more like Maroon 5 than Chris Dautry... |
SO - another season of AI is finished. Ended as predicted with Jordin's win. She really does have an amazing voice for her age, and she has the potential for a great future.
But all in all, I thought the season was flat, boring. The finale almost seemed anti-climatic. Plus it was filled with just TOO much junk stuff. All I really wanted to see was the last 5 minutes!! On to - So You Think You Can Dance!! |

I didn't watch much, as usual. I liked Sundance Head's audition, but the one time I saw him sing anything else it was horrible.
Was Jordin the one who was a backup singer? |
No, that was Melinda |
This season bored me to tears. I kept watching, hoping it would improve (and there were a FEW good moments) but no luck. I'm looking forward to "So you Think You Can Dance" (which I LOVED last season) and hoping for the new "Band" version of Idol to be better.
Is anyone watching "On the Lot"? I think the concept in very cool, but the first episode was a DUD for me....all personality conflict stuff and almost NO film shown!!!??? I wanted to see the clips these people sent in! |
I'm really glad Jordin won. However, it was a painfully boring season. They tried to do so much stuff each show, I was put off. We missed Tuesday's show completely (we were in Florida), and last night just watched the last 10 or minutes. I'm sorta glad its over. |
