I wouldn't leave a dog unattended even during the day with a hair clip on....
Mine would take it off and eat it....that's just me tho. |
Funny you say that...when I was buying them I was thinking that same thing so didn't go for the rubber band type...I am shocked mine has left it on for this long ( few hours so far)...But i think I will remove it fr bed. Just wondering if others do that as well? |
I leave the little bands in overnight. Only once has Bing gone after one. But I wouldn't tempt fate with a clip. Aren't the clips cute in their hair?! |
I leave the ponytail holder bands in overnight. Chewie never messes with them. i think he enjoys seeing! I never would with a barrette though. It would get pulled out and eaten! |
Ditto, I use little hair bands and leave them in as long as I can. Depends on the dog, some last a day or two, some a week. |
I leave in the rubber bands in till they come out. Obe never messes with them. |
I'm more concerned about my dog choking/swallowing on a hair clip than I am a rubberband, so that's what I use. ...and I keep it in overnight. Hair clips look 100% cuter to me though. |
So you use the tiny rubber bands I've seen in the store for little girls? I bought them too but was concerned abut swallowing that too! But they were tiny s I guess they would pass through
I took the clip out and only put it back while I am at home. He doesn't ahve quite enough hair yet to put up, yet too much that it blocks the eyes I probably make no sense! |
I have clear small rubberbands. The ones that dont pull the hair out. I just bought some bigger ones that are black. I still have some clips but they are small and his hair wont fit in the clip as well a rubberband. |
I don't leave clips in not for the dog's safety, but for mine. Ever step on a metal barrette in the middle of the night on your way to the bathroom? It's not pleasant!
Clyde has been wearing two pigtails these days and he tosses and turns during the night when he sleeps. I know he doesn't eat them, but every morning he wakes up with one missing so he just has one eighties-style side ponytail. I find the missing bands all over the house. A lot of times though, I don't know if they're his or mine because we share them interchangeably. |
We leave Hannah's in. She likes to see at night too. |
Yes i leave maizie and hattie hair bobbles in but i don't use clips... because they come out! |

We used clips (but never left in unattended) when Barkley's hair was in that awkward stage too (like in my avatar). The hair was long enough to cover the eyes but any attempts to use rubber bands failed miserably. Now he has enough hair that a rubber band (or two) will stay in for days. Occasionally one will fall out but they're so small they'll pass if eaten. The rubber bands we use are tiny, and clear and came in a pack of 100(ish) for a few dollars at the drugstore. Found them in the hair elastics/barretes section. They look like the dental elastics used for braces, but about double the size. He'll have enough hair to do 2 pig-tails (one over each eye) before you'll be able to do 1 top knot. |
We stopped using the clips. One, because the girlfriend was stealing the dog's clips and two, my walls and furniture can't take it anymore. He is a face and head rubber. Put his hair up, rub his face against the wall. Drink water, rub his face on the furniture. Eat his dinner, run downstairs, burp in your general direction and rub his face on both the wall and the furniture. |
