Being that it is Missouri, I am almost 100% sure it is a puppymill. |
One of the dogs is marked "show potential" for $2,000. The other 10 dogs, all with the same 11-22-2006 birthday (over 5 months old now) are priced at $100 to $200. Hope they find homes for them soon. I guess I'd wonder if they're housetrained by now, how well they're socialized with uprights (11 puppies is a lot to handle not mentioning any adults they must have), whether they're on worm/heartworm preventative and at what age the boys need to be separated from the girls (so puppies don't have puppies). I'm sure you can tell I know nothing about breeding! |

Boy I hope that was sarcastic Jaci because you hit the nail or nails right on the head!! (And I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong! ) My advice is to run screaming from this breeder. Buying puppies from them will only make room for them to make more puppies and it is perpetuating a vicious circle of bringing poor pups into this world. |
Actually, I really don't know much about the world of dog breeding All of my girls are spayed and there's not one poochie-boy in the pack though we had two male dogs as kids. My sister just purchased an adult Boston Terrier and she wanted to know how to tell if she was in heat. Yeah, I learned a little about that topic recently (btw- she's scheduled to be spayed May 2nd... not my sister... her dog hehehe.)
You know... I wondered when these pups should be separated according to gender but I just realized that they're ALL BOYS. I won't even let my thoughts wander on the possible reasons for that. Here's their website: http://prettycoatjunctionkennel.com/forsale.aspx Maybe the pictures are not the most recent of some of the pups but some look much younger than others. |
As Pepsi's Mommy stated....it's Missouri. I hate it say it but I live here and I agree there are A LOT of puppy mills. It's sickening. I don't know anything about this place but IMO they don't appear to be reputable breeders. I found this part of their website interesting....
"We also play with our dogs daily while doing chors here on the little farm." I take that as meaning the dogs are kept in a kennel on the property. Again, just my opinion and I could be totally wrong. Maybe I'm just a little jaded.... |
RUN AWAY |
I did notice they were all boys, too. That definitely seems like the females are to be kept and used to make more. It breaks my heart. These pups seemed doomed from the start. |

I know exactly how you feel. Maybe if they're lucky they'll find a way into rescue. If you purchase one it just relieves the breeder of further financial burden and responsibility... it simply frees up space and funds so another can fill his place. This is the logical side of it anyway. I've heard it said recently that "OES are not selling well this year". Maybe a time will come when a few will decide to get out of the business because of this. I hope they will contact rescue to assist them if it happens. |
