walk before bedtime, it was very windy with a steady cold rain. We did out usual short walk for business, then................ The March Peepers started peeping loudly and Bogart glanced at me and................................... come on Mom , let's get back HOME! I had Bogart's jacket on, maybe I should spring for little jackets for the peepers next year. Here is a similar sample of last nights concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aM7l9vTgKw |

I don't blame him! My sister lives on the edge of a pond and one night when I was talking to her I said "is that birds in the background?" She said no, it's the d@mn tree frogs! Theyare so loud that they have to close the windows at night or they can't sleep. |
That is so cute Bogart got a little nervous around them
I had to look up what march peepers was/meant!!!! |

I had to look up what march peepers was/meant!!!! Sorry Jo! Here is a link-they are also known as Spring Peepers http://www.uri.edu/cels/nrs/paton/LH_spring_peeper.html Under any name, they make alot of noise! |
I'm glad you looked that up and posted it, thanks. I had no clue to what a march peeper was. |
I'd take a 100 of those over 1 gecko, roach, cricket, snake, tick, flea, or gnat. One reason I appreciate living here in AK ...because bears and moose are better than any of the above too (except those cute froggies). |
Sending our sqwarky cocatoos over for bogart
Ours is possums here, the girls go outside for potty before bed and if one of those monsters in the dark scramble in a tree they freak and run back inside. Gotta luv the whimps. Wow I would of thought spring peepers were some kind of bird, heck there froggy thingys, awesome. |
It will continue to be noisy......this is also the year of the cicada....every 17 years isn't it? Actually it's anywhere from 13-17 years.....you lucky folks!
We have the annual cicada that comes out in August. I love their sound, but then we don't have as many trees nor as many cicadas. |
Good grief for living in the middle of a big city it is positively silent here compare to where you live. I can only imagine what my three's reaction would be to that noise. |
I lived in New England for 12 years. The peepers are one of the things I miss. |
I used to live on a lake. Who knew I would actually miss that noise....but I do. |
Poor Bogart - it must've scared him good fashion. I enjoy the tree frogs myself. But, I've never heard the term Spring or March Peepers. |
HAHAHAHAHA POOR BOGART!! But I can so picture it!!!!
Wish we had some PEEPERS HERE, it would mean spring was finally on it's way!!!!! |
