The Iredell County Animal Control is a county run shelter. We strive to keep the site up to date. If you would like check availabilty on any of the pets featured on this site, please call the shelter directly at 704-878-5424. Our hours are M-F 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am-Noon. Please do not try to email the shelter as they do not have an email account. The email address listed is for the Humane Society, and they do not have any additional info. We STRONGLY suggest that you visit the shelter rather than call, the shelter is extremely understaffed and they may not be able to give you enough attention on the telephone. All pets are adopted on a first come, first served basis. If you are a rescue, the pet is made available to the public for 1 week then it is make available for rescue. All rescues should email the humane society for arraingments. Adoption fees are $21 for an altered dog and $71 for an unaltered, however you are required to spay or neuter once the pet is adopted, that is what the higher fee helps pay for. All animals come with a rabies vaccine per NC state law. Please visit our sister site at www.iredellhumane.org and click on animal shelter for more info. ***********PLEASE NOTE: *********** This shelter is a county ran, kill shelter and this county does have a rabies ban. The animal controls mandate is to protect the public. They do try to find homes for some of the lucky few. If you can no longer provide a home for your pet or find a stray, you need to know that if you bring that animal to the shelter without proof of a rabies vaccination, the dog or cat WILL BE EUTHANIZED!!!!!! We, at the Humane Society, do not condone dumping your pets at the shelter, however if you do choose to do this, please at least have some compassion and get the animal it's rabies vaccine. They are a measly 9$ from any vets office. Please note that the vaccine must be 3 weeks old, and puppies and kittens need to be vaccinated against rabies at the age of 3 months! Please call the shelter directly for more info http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action ... mpl=&stat= |

I have a friend in SC who is a pilot and loves Dancer... he was considering getting one, so I will contact him asap and see if he can help out. He was staying in Columbia to wait out Charlie, so I'm not sure how quickly I can get a hold of him, but I will do my best. |
I've e-mailed ALL of the OES rescues. I am hoping ONE of them will pull her.
I am going out of town until Thursday -- so I am panicking not knowing what will happen to her. I will be in northern MN at the BWCA -- no phone. She is SO SWEET. I have also posted on other boards letting people know that if they can help pull, foster until I can get back and arrange transport, etc. -- I would adopt her myself. (I've wanted a new addition anyway) I don't want to see this pretty OES baby die for no reason!! |
Hello
We are interested in adopting Sadie. I called the facility in Statesville this afternoon and she was still available. We live in Cincinnati and interested in suggestions on how to get her here? The person at the facility really wasn't much help as far as logistics go. Also how do we find out info on Sadies behavior, personality, potty training, etc? Again the "warden" wasn't much help here. Need help fast as she also told me that "Sadie needs to be gone by this weekend" (gulp) PS we have a 7 yr old OES who is one of the family! SJ |
Hi I inquired about Sadie this weekend and also talked to Iredell Animal Control this AM...not much information available...the gal on the phone had not even seen Sadie...so I emailed iredellhumane@yahoo.com and this is her response at 8/16/04 3:44:17 PM Eastern Daylight Time!
Quote: I just called the Animal Control and she was being adopted out at that time. Hopefully it will be somebody who knows OES dogs.
Thank you, Marilyn Farmer God Bless Sadie..I hope she has a wonderful furever home...I would have loved to have had her though! |
Oh I am so glad she got adopted! You will find the right family member for you! He/she is out there! |
Ahhhh! I'm SO glad to hear she was adopted! Hopefully, as Marilyn Farmer said, she was adopted by someone who knows OES. I heard that the OES Rescue in NC was working on getting her out. Hopefully I will get more details. I am SO glad she is OUT! |

That was my thought too, Kathy. As soon as I saw your post, I forwarded it to the state rescue and also the surrounding states too. I think everyone's now been in contact. Thanks for offering your help. |
