Maggie and Chumley in their new home!

After taping down carpet runners and stair treads throughout my new house (sad but necessary), I brought the dogs home from the Animal Lodge. They had both been here before but not together. They had a great afternoon sniffing around the garden. Chumley really enjoyed lying in the grass and sitting under a crab apple tree. She was smiling and happy. Maggie preferred to stay close by my chair.

There is a six foot fence separating the yard from the people next door. My neighbor came out with her dog and some dogs she is petsitting and I wanted to minimize the chances that they'd all be barking at the strangers on the other side of the fence. So I invited the 3 dogs into the yard. It went so well! They are such sweet dogs. Wesley, an older golden retriever, is our neighbor and is a pure sweetheart. He and Maggie played a nice little game of fetch (Wesley) / keep away (Maggie).

The big test came tonight when I went upstairs. I wasn't sure if Chum could make it. But after a nervous pause, she motored up the stairs by herself and then back down to go for a walk and then up again for bedtime. Woo hoo! Ugly stair treads and carpet tape were successful!

Both girls are sleeping heavily from an exciting day. I will try to get some pictures on tomorrow. . .

Hope your leg is doing alright as well.
OK Val, why do Chums and Maggie have to share the yard with the gator and rhino? Yea gads, here they probably thought the yard would be there own!!

So far, beautiful yard and patio with column making me very curious about the rest of the house!!
I posted about it here: http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=13504

The rhino and the crocodile were part of a small bronze zoo my dad had. It was magical. There were horses grazing in a pasture, herons at the water's edge, a baby elephant, a cougar . . . The animals got divided up by various family members when he died. They remind me of his whimsical spirit. :)
