WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was offered a wonderful employment opportunity on Friday which I will be accepting on Monday! Thank you all for listening to me kvetch over the last year and half about my current job. It was truly unbelievably bad there for a while. The last few months have been better, but the damage had already been done. I will hopefully now be acknowledged in my new position for my knowledge and expertise and will be given decision making responsibility. I'm excited but it's scary all the same! I will carry the title of Project Manager which is a big deal in the pharmaceutical industry. I've started to grow accustomed to my very short commute and barely doing an work. Slowly, I've been going insane! Too much time for me to think isn't a good thing especially with icky coworkers. My commute will be longer and I anticipate that I will be much busier. All that probably translates into less time on the forum, but I'll try to keep up YAY!!!! |
|
AWESOME!!! SHOW ME THE MONEY. You go girl. |
Congratulations to you!
Enjoy the new job! (More money for crafts ) |
That's great news. I hope the new job is a good one! |
Cool, I hope this turns out to be a great position for you. Keep us posted! |
Wishing you all the best with your new job! |
Way to go Stacy! It's great to have a fun and challenging job. But take it from me, it does cut into your crafting and Forum time |
Congratulations!!!!!! Woo hoo!

Where will your new job be? Town if you don't want to name employer. |
Congrats Stacy! A new job is so exciting. Less time on the forum? Nope. That's what lunch is for! Be sure to get a new outfit for your first day. |
Congrats! That's fabulous news. I hope you are MUCH happier and successful in your new job! When do you start? |
Thanks everyone! I gave notice to my current employer today. I will be here another two weeks and then I'll start my new job on April 30th. It will be further from home (18 miles as opposed to 5 miles) but I hope that I at least enjoy it and the days go by more quickly. I've been really spoiled with my commute...just hope it's okay.
I'm definitely being given a title that has responsibility attached to it. It's bittersweet to leave my current employer as the company is very good and there are a bunch of people from previous employment that all work here. Unforutnately, I picked a bad group Of course, when it rains it pours as I did have a very good internal interview here a few weeks back. I'm supposed to hear something this week, but I plan to pull my name out of the running tomorrow. Yes, I must go buy some new clothes. Steve says that I can do that now with my 20% pay increase Not to brag, but I nearly pooped in my pants! |
Way cool - good job!!! |
Congratulations, I hope it's everything you want it to be and more! New clothes, fresh start, woohoo. |
THat's wonderful news Stacey! You should be happy with your work since you spend so much time there. I'm glad you're getting an opportunity to make a change for the better! |
Congrats Stacy! That is fantastic!!!! If you like your job, the commute won't seem so bad. Can you tell us where you will be working?
Again, congrats! Laurie and Oscar |
Congrats Stacey!!!!! YAHOO. |
It is great to be able to leave a place you are not happy and go where they want you. |
THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! I have four more dreadful days until my last day! |
Woohoo! I shall have a celebratory muffin on your behalf on Friday! |
Woohoo! One more day!!!! My lousy team have barely even acknowledged my departure other than to say "Is it a promotion? Did you get more money?"
Earlier this week, my Manager started thinking about projects he wanted me to complete. HELLO, I'M LEAVING THIS WEEK Duh! I mentioned to him today about how people in the department didn't realize I was leaving and were disappointed there was no goodbye celebration planned. This was after a higher up person told me that he would miss me, that I did a great job, and was disappointed he didn't hear about a goodbye celebration. I wasn't going to say anything, but because I am who I am, I did. So, caught off guard my Manager says, "What are your plans for lunch tomorrow?" Duh, my lunch friends are taking me out. Before he left work, he came by and asked if I'd like to come back next week during my week off so they the team could take me me to lunch I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still so bitter and disappointed about how this whole thing turned out. Ce la vie! |
Well good riddens to them! What jerks! |
Happy last day Stacy!!! Yahooo!!!!!! your boss and coworkers should have planned better ! |
Don't forget your coffee mug!
|
Oh well, consider the source. Be glad this is your last few hours with those dopes. Do you have anyone you like that you can go to lunch with today? If not, eat at your desk and read oes.org! |

Stacy wrote: "What are your plans for lunch tomorrow?" They could always give you a gift certificate to a restaurant. Not that you will need it with your great paying new job |
Congrats Stacy! This is exciting. I know you will do great at your new job and be APPRECIATED |
Yes, my four lunch friends are taking me out to lunch today. I picked a sandwich placed called Cosi.
My Manager just sent out an email to tell people that today's my last day. The phone keeps ringing and I'm receiving emails from people who had no idea. They've all said I did a great job, they'll miss me, and have given me their numbers to stay in touch. Two of them are very disappointed in my manager. One of my immediate colleagues is out sick today and I can't say goodbye to her...darn |
Stacy, that job hasn't been a good fit for you, for a long time. Its time to kiss it goodbye...and look forward to the new challenges you'll be facing.... and... the new friends you'll be making. Mazel Tov! |
Well, I've almost finished my third week at the new job. Things are going well...I think. I don't really know how much I'm supposed to know by the end of the third week. My manager is swamped as she has been doing the work of 3 people for quite some time and just putting out fires. Therefore, she isn't a "pro" at what I'm supposed to be doing and has limited time for training. I do like her a lot though. The drive hasn't been too bad and coworkers seem nice. A former coworker of mine who I have always liked a lot works in the department so that has been great for me.
On another note, Steve hasn't been selected to take on more responsibility at work. I'm very proud of him, but am concerned about the additional time it will demand of him. He has worked so hard at his company and deserves recognition. We may need to consider a dog walker. |
Hi All! Just thought I'd give you a job update as I'm not on the forum as much as before.
I'm nearing my fourth month at the new job and it's still going well. There are changes going on in the department including a new manager very soon. He's been my counterpart since I've started and has been very inclusive and reasonable. There's nothing glamorous about my job, commute is longer, and I have less a vacation time, but there are MANY expectations that have been met so far: 1. Salary 2. Atmosphere and people are still nice in the office 3. New manager and team member are in Belgium 4. I can WORK FROM HOME I will hopefully be working this out for one set day a week, I'll be at home! Side Note: As we thought, Steve is spending a ton of time at work and he will need to travel more. The perk: I will go to Cali with him in Sept. |
Hi All! I'm a little over 5 months now and everything is still going well. I'm waiting for the bubble to burst. One of my projects will be transitioning soon to the division it should be in and then I'll be onto a new project. It will be sort of hard as that division will also be relocating to another location soon. They are the people I usually go to lunch with each day; however, there are other friendly people.
I will be traveling to Canada briefly for a meeting in about 2 wks. Next year I will be going to Belgium to meet everyone in our office over there. The work isn't glamorous, but they seem to be happy with me as well. It's nice to be told what you are doing correctly and that they are confident they hired the right person for the position. I enjoy getting pats on my back without asking! My first manager is still accessible and available so I don't feel at a complete loss. I can't believe how much I've learned in such a short amount of time. My coworker and manager are really great people! I'm starting to feel much more comfortable. Commute is still stinky. But GUESS WHAT? I will be working from home on Mondays starting next week Life is shaping up! |
Congrats, Stacy. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying this new job and are happy with your decision. |
Belgium is fabulous, you'll love it. What a great perk! Good for you! |
The traveling sounds wonderful!! We lived in Belgium for 2 years and loved it! |
Joahaeyo wrote: The traveling sounds wonderful!! We lived in Belgium for 2 years and loved it!
Wow! That's neat! |
Stacy,
This sounds like such a great job. I am so happy that it's working out so well for you. Maybe the working from home will increase. How great would that be? The traveling sounds like fun too. |
Well, I can't believe I'm informing you that I only lasted about 9 months. A former colleague of mine has recruited me back to the last company I was at. Thankfully, this is a different group than I worked with when I was previously there. I left on good terms with the company and know a ton of people who work there, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed....again. I'm back to a 4 mile commute |
Congrats, Stacy! I was wondering what was going on when you posted in the thread about how were you being unproductive that you were in between jobs.
After traveling 20 miles one way for the past 28 years, a 4 mile commute sounds heavenly! Good luck on the new job! |
Wishing you lots of luck, Stacy!! |
Good luck Stacy! |
It's funny how things work out in life isn't it?
The shorter commute will make life easier and now that you've been gone for some time ...they will have appreciated all the things that you did do and had time to notice it in your absence. You will be much more appreciated!!! Glad you gave them a second chance as just like the song says.."You don't know what you got till it's gone". Happy for you and good luck! Marianne |
Good luck Stacy! Keep us posted! |
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Good luck! I hope this is 'the one'! |
Go Stacy!!!!
whooo hooooo!! congrats! |
Congrats? I'm not sure!
My commute was not as long as people from LA or NYC, but I used to drive 8 1/2 miles to catch a train, ride the train for an hour, then walk 1/2 mile... My last year in Downtown Boston I drove in everyday, about 30 miles then 3/4 of a mile walk from the parking lot. |
I work for a very evil man. I truly believe he has some serious issues. I hate working for him. BUT! I work less than 1 mile from my house, and after working for him for over 4 years, I know what I have with him. I often read the want ads and thinks...oh that sounds great...but the fact of the matter is that, I love working this close to home and seeing the puppers at lunch everyday! For many, many years, I felt so intrenched in my work, but as I get older, I realize its just a job. It just puts food on the table, the kids through college. So I don't take it seriously anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still have no respect for my boss (the owner of the company) and I still get frustrated...but I know, I have so much more in life to focus on. Glad to hear you'll be closer to your pups again, Stacy!!!!! Oh yea...Lizzie wants to meet da Fozzie boy! |

No...Crazy Mikie! |
