small litter size

HI,
We have been in touch with a breeder for over a year and have been patiently awaiting our new puppy. we recently found out that the mum is pregnant! The breeder then told us that she appears to have a very small litter- she said the ultrasound only showed 2 or 3 pups.

We have read that healthy puppies come from healthy litters, so we were wondering if this is something we should be concerned with?

any advice is appreciated,
Thanks
LH

My boy came from a little of 9 - yippee! But his mom and her sister, both excellent bitches, were the only two in their litter. :D If you've done your research and know that the breeder is reputable I wouldn't worry about it!
Hi

A small number of puppies in a litter is not an issue at all. The number all depends on how many eggs are fertilized and implanted.

If the breeder is a reputable breeder, I wouldn't worry about the small litter. My first OES came from a litter of about 10...that was 20 years ago! My new puppy was in a litter of five and while looking for him, I found many whose litters were small and only two or three pups...Not to worry. Sometimes its quality not quantity that counts  Good luck!
