Wouldn't you know that Decatur Co., Indiana has a postcard of the tree on the courthouse tower.
That thing will haunt me forever! |
Cool website. None from my home county/town, but the pictures are fun to look at from other areas.
I actually am surprised that none are from Stillwater, MN - it is "the birthplace of MN" and a big logging town "in the day". |
What is the deal with the tree? Is there just so much dirt and bird droppings up there a tree can grow? Can't be good for the roof tiles.

AAAAAHHHHH! LOOK LOOK!!!!
Here is one of my town's most historic landmarks (and now extremly sadly defunct ) the spiral bridge! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mn/da ... spirbr.jpg Wasn't it great? They had to tear it down to reroute the bridge traffic over downtown, instead of through it, since the highway got so much busier. I never got to see it, but my favorite restaurant in town has pics of the bridge plastered all over. I'm so sad they couldn't figure out a way to relocate it somewhere, or just build a walking path on it or SOMETHING. I hate when they tear down historic structures like that. We've still got lots of beautiful historic buildings, but the bridge was just SO cool! |

susan Ah, they don't care about the building, just so the tree doesn't die again. http://www.decaturcounty.in.gov/ scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "History of the World Famous Tower Tree" and click. |
The two listed fo my town are really boring...lol |
