A guilty pleasure website Africam-African webcam!

http://www.wavelit.com/popup/playerAfricam.asp

i have gotten made fun of so much for being obsessed with this website!! as much as i understand its a webcam at some watering hole in africa. i've seen everything from monkeys, giraffes, and even an elephant! its great if you're up late, because thats when you see the most action (the daytime there). i turn off the sound and just keep it up on my computer, i love it!

I've had it on for about 16 minutes and there was just a zoom of what looked like a pile of poo. No animals yet. I really want to see a elephant. Or a chimp.
Hi,

Thanks!!! I love it!!!

Last year I was glued to the website, eaglecam, along with millions of others. It showed two mating pairs, the hatching of the eggs, the birth of the two eaglets and the constant care by the parents. Eventually they fledged. Can get pretty addictive!
Watching the marvels of nature is awesome and I'm going to pass this site along to my class.

Marianne and the boys
I was watching and I'm confused. Is there someone behind the camera? After watching the watering hole for a few minutes, the camera moved..zoomed in and out, showing Antalope?, Zebra and water buffalos? off to the side. Is it remote?
Now there are two groups of different hooved animals. One could be a group o' zebras???? This is very cool. And I also want to know how this is done.
I know for sure there are cameras out there thatcan turn on and off when there is movement... I'll bet such a thing exists for zooming at movement too. Or it could be one of those camoflauged wheelie all terrain remote cameras, like they used to track a lion pride on animal planet! (That was an amazing show by the way...) I've gotta check this site out!
i too have wondered where it's set up and how everything works. the camera does move to where ever there are animals and will zoom in. i almost think there is someone monitoring because sometimes it'll zoom onto a reflection of something drinking in the water. an interesting angle, and one i'm not sure a computer would automatically go to.

when i posted the link there were monkeys... if you see anything interesting let me know!! i tend to see whatever the hoofed animals are all the time. and i'm yet to see anything at nighttime in africa.
I saw some sort of gazelle or antelope!
Camera action, turn, zoom, etc, can be set for reaction to movement.
Wow, that's a good quality (big $'s) infrared camera.
Wow, thanks for sharing this site. I love it...... :D

only one problem my husband keep scaring me telling me something is going to jump out at me (like the stupid e-mails everyone seems to send me)...LOL 8O

zebras now :)
and of course now they are gone :( does anyone else have any addicting websites?
There's a bird that looks similar to a canada goose there now!
Fantastic - Wilderbeast & Zebras - think SA is on the same timezone as me, GMT - no work to be done today then lol !!!
Wow - now there's zebras, wildebeast and tons of little deerlike/gazelle creatures! Popular time. We are all being entertained at work!
Christine help me......it doesn't work
The camera is human controlled.

It was showing a group of Zebra and there was just a tail of another wagging. The camera pulled way way back and revealed a road, then panned and zoomed in on (I am assuming) a mother and her baby:

It stayed on that for a while then refocused on this group having High Tea:

Fianlly, I just liked this shot with the Zebras in front, and the others (Gazelles? Antelope?) behind.

The tails never stop wagging and they are shaking their heads all the time... the mosquitoes must be terrible!
I was thinking biting flies. They need some insecticide!!!
Hey, there was an elepahant on this morning!
I have been having fun watching this at night (day on the camera) while at work. Thanks for the diversion!
Sigh I keep missing stuff as all I've seen so far is two birds.

The Zebra photos were amazing!!!Thanks for posting them!

Marianne
