Your assistance is requested to transport one pregnant mixed breed dog to the safety of rescue and fosteringĀ in Pennsylvania. Little Miss Heidi was spoken for by rescue at the last moment before she was scheduled to be sent out for euthanasia. You see, little Miss is pregnant and she is fussing at other dogs that get too close to her. Obviously, she is getting ready to have her puppies. Heidi came into the shelter as a very sweet girl, with a darling little male friend, a 20 pound Terrier Mix who has since been pulled and sent to the vet for medical treatment and boarding while he awaits rescue. Now she is alone and miserable. The shelter has agreed to hold her a few more days, but if transport doesn't look good for this weekend, she'll be euthanized this TH or FR. If you can help to get Heidi to safety, please contact me offlist at curlybutts @ adelphia.net (remove spaces). I am on digest for many groups and don't want to miss an offer of helpNote that legs are flexible. This shelter is packed and they are ever euthanizing puppies. ) Crystal Transport Contact Information: Coordinator: Crystal Dodd E-Mail: curlybutts @ adelphia.net (remove spaces) Sending Shelter: Lenoir County SPCA/Pound Phone (shelter): 252-522-0787 Website: http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/NC61.html Receiving Rescue: FOHA (NJ) Contact: Susan, Loliemily@aol.com Website: http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/NJ160.html Passenger 1: Heidi Breed: Golden/Shep/Chow Mix Age: Young Sex: Female Altered: No, is pregnant, will be spayed at rescue Size/Weight: 40 pounds Shots: UTD as permissible for a pregnant dog Fleas/Ticks: Treated as to what is safe for a pregnant dog Behavioral Issues: Has been a very sweet girl, but now does not want other dogs around her due to impending delivery of pups, so will need to travel solo Housebroken: Unknown Crate: Optional Size of Crate: Large Traveling with paperwork, leash, and collar August 14 - Saturday: Leg 1 - NEEDED Kinston NC to Rocky Mount NC; 59 miles; 1h 30m 9:00 - 10:30 Leg 2 - NEEDED Rocky Mount NC to Emporia VA; 60 miles; 1 h 5m 10:45 - 11:50 Leg 3 - NEEDED Emporia VA to Richmond VA; 68 miles; 1h 10m 12:05 - 1:15 Leg 4 - NEEDED Richmond VA to Fredericksburg VA; 57 miles; 1h 5m 1:30 - 2:35 Leg 5 - NEEDED Fredericksburg VA to Springfield VA; 41 mi; 50m 2:50 - 3:40 Leg 6 - NEEDED Springfield VA to Baltimore MD; 60 miles; 1h 10m 4:00 - 5:10 Leg 7 - NEEDED Baltimore MD to Newark DE; 62 mi; 1h 10m 5:25 - 6:35 Leg 8 - NEEDED Newark DE to Exit 4-NJTP (NJ); 52 mi; 1h 6:50 - 7:50 Leg 9 - NEEDED Exit 4-NJTP (NJ) to New Hope PA - 43 mi; 55m 8:05 - 9:00 |

Hey, I would be able to do the last leg, I live in Brooklyn, NY and can drive to NJ to get her and then to PA. Can we fly her to PA? I would be willing to chip in for a ticket. Keep me posted. |
Is it not possible to foster her somewhere closer to where she already is? It is really not a good diea to make a pregnant dog go through so much stress, she may run into complications. I would take her and foster her myself in an instant if I were closer, even flying this dog would be hard on her, but safer than meeting so many new people, getting into so many new vehicles and being on such a long drive... I'd be willing to chip in for a flight too. |
