Quote: EDITOR'S NOTE:: CLICK HERE TO SEE THE CURRENT DOG FOOD RECALL:
Our local news just reported that Del Monte has just done a voluntary recall of their dog food. I didn't get the 800 number. Ole Roy and Purina is listed on this recall. |
|
"...As a precautionary measure, Del Monte Pet Products is voluntarily recalling select product codes of its pet treat products sold under the Jerky Treats(R), Gravy Train(R) Beef Sticks and Pounce Meaty Morsels(R) brands as well as select dog snack and wet dog food products sold under private label brands..."
"...Del Monte Pet Products customers can visit our website http://www.delmonte.com or contact our Consumer Hotline at (800) 949-3799 for further information about the recall..." Source: March 31, 2007 7:14 PM ET http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/provid ... ID=6695127 |
Wow, this just gets worse and worse... |
Yes, now I'm getting concerned. All I need to hear is that the Purina Sensitive Stomach wetfood I gave Yuki and my maltese was on the recall list too. Where's the punch in the face emoticon when you need it? |
We've discontinued all commercial food for now . It's rediculous how the list keeps growing. I know this was not something the mfrs. intentionally did but I don't want to find the next thing added to the list is something we feed. They say "trust us" but continue to add new products weeks after the list is supposedly complete.
Wouldn't you think that the FDA would make public the name of the supplier that provided this tainted ingredient so other food mfrs. would be able to determine immediately if their products might pose a risk? I'm calling a veterinary nutritionist tomorrow to see if I can get a telephone consultation on homecooking a complete and balanced diet for the girls until this mess settles down. I've got recipes but how do I know if they're complete? |
Does anyone know how SOON after eating an effected product, a dog would start to get sick? I'm getting nervous about treats now, since some "jerky treats" have been added to the list...We only give carrots, Yummy Chummies, and Mrs. Hubbard biscuits, but my dogs have been given various OTHER treats while visiting friends or family ...especially back during the holidays. |
The worst part is, there are A LOT of generic treats called "Jerky Treats" so it's hard to remember which one they may have had. |
I just took every box and bag of treats Breena owns and looked through the ingredients to see if they have wheat gluten. Next I went to all the treat websites to see if they had posted a recall. The old mother hubbard and wellness treats are made by the same company and they don't use wheat gluten in them. The site says that they are not tainted. I assume if they were they would take them off the market seeing as lawsuites and all. |
Just FYI, the first ingredient in the everlasting treatball treats is wheat gluten. I have no idea who the manufacturer is and whether they are affected but I am not going to risk it. . . |
^^^^^^^^^^^
Oh, no. ...and I just bought Yuki an I-Qube. She's gone through so many of those treats. I hope it's not EVERY product that has wheat gluten in it. ...had to call it i-qube for old time sake /hardy harr har |
My boys are both on Science Diet I/D.
Haven't heard anything about the I/D being recalled. Still I am worried. Anyone have a recipe for homemade dog food with low residue for sensitive stomachs? |
As some of you may recall just last week I started a post about Hendrix's diahrria problems. I've just left a message with the vet to see if it could be related to the Jerkey Treats and Happy Tails. I've purchased the Jerkey Treats from Costco in bulk... eek! And I just bought Happy Tails this weekend!
I'll let you know what the vet has to say about this Wheat Glutten. |
Our cat Eli passed away on Sat. He only ate wet food, friskies & purina, which are not on the list. He was 17, so we are blaming his death on old age.
This whole mess has me scared to death. Chauncey is on Royal Canin Large Breed dry and SO FAR their website says it is not affected. I do give him wet a few times a week as a treat, but none of the brands have been listed YET. I have decided to homecook meals for Chaunce until this is cleared up, and I truely believe it's going to be a while. The list is growing daily and the FDA doesn't seem to have a handle on any of this. My SL works as a supervisor for PetSmart distribution so she's been keeping me up to date on the most recent information, today they were told that the affected gluten may have made it's way into the human food supply! Can anyone recommend a good suppliment with the required vitamins, minerals and antioxidents that I can add to Chauncey's diet?............Kathy ps: Congress is to investigate, please contact your representitive. |
I couldn't see it on the menufoods list, and I didn't see it while searching but I just received this in my inbox. It came from the military, so that's all I have as a source.
Quote: This voluntary recall message pertains to very specific codes of ALPO Prime Cuts cans and variety packs. See Code information in the next paragraph. The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a "Best Before Feb. 2009" date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons. |
Jo, I've seen the same. I've given alpo beef stew to Chaunce but it's been awhile. Bob & I have joked if the stock market goes south, we could eat that over noodles. Now this isn't even funny. In fact I'm pretty upset that this could happen. Then to find out the FDA doesn't have a clue...now the gluten may be in human food, not only may we have poisoned those we love, our pets.
Alpo is not a Menu foods corp. so it wouldn't show up on their website. |
Info about all the recalls that I have information about are located at the link at the very top of this thread. Both of these are included. |
Did you guys know that Milkbone is a del monte food product? I just found that out. I'm not letting Bree get any more from the bank or any drive through. Not that she actually eats them anyways but just the same. |
http://www.eaglepack.com/
I feed Eaglepack. They say their food is safe .Check out their front page they talk about the recall. If anyone is needing a food maybe try Eagle. I pray they are telling the truth. I just don't know who to believe anymore.... Antoinette |
I know what you mean about not knowing who to believe. The lady at the pet store tried to sell me Nutro Natural Choice the other day. Told me none of their foods are part of the recall. I got home only to look on the list and see that they were there. |
