I need some really good ideas for my first new meal in my kitchen....Brian is not a ''saucey'' person..more of a meat and potatoes type of guy....but I do want to cook something special, to celebrate our making it thru the remodel...any good ideas????? |

How about a planked Chateaubriand for two, with piped mashed (or baked, or baked/stuffed) potatoes and grilled veggies, with a nice red wine? |
hmmmm thats interesting...not a bad idea....but it depends on the chateaubriand....brian wont eat it if its stuffed with liver pate, but if i used mushrooms instead...he'd eat that....
so where is my recipe..?????? |
Here are some pictures of Chateaubriand.
Ohhh this looks niiiiiiiice... Ooooh! Planked for ONE! Interesting... Very plain... Elegant. Notice it is on a board with a channel for juices? This is where I'd pipe the mashed potatoes. NOW I am HUNGRY!!! |

No meal suggestions (the rest look delicious!), just happy thoughts to finally enjoy your new kitchen!!!!! |
chateaubriand isn't usually stuffed....it can be though. Are you thinking Beef Wellington?
Strange, Ron and I actually thought of the same menu.......hmmm, if we come up with a mutual wine I guess that means we'll have to meet half way and share the meal........spouses optional. So what is half way......St. Louis? |

I've got about 4 cups of garbonzos freshly cooked. Was making hummus for husband's office party and ran out of tahini and lemon juice. So what's with the garbonzo stew........it might be dinner........recipe please. sheepieboss |
HEHEHEHEHE, Doug always makes fun of me for my Garbanzo fetish but this one really is GOOD, I don't usually make the Couscous but sometimes I do.
GARBANZO STEW 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 large onion, chopped Coarse grained salt and cracked black pepper 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves 3 zucchini, cut into 3/4-inch cubes 3 yellow squash, cut into 3/4-inch cubes 1 pound mushrooms, cut into 3/4-inch cubes 1 clove garlic, minced 4 tomatoes, peeled and diced, or 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes 3 cups chicken or vegetable stock 2 (19-ounce) cans garbanzo beans 1/4 cup chopped parsley, plus 1 tablespoon 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar 2 tablespoons fresh basil 2 cups couscous, prepared according to package instructions 1/2 cup raisins, soaked in boiling water for 5 minutes and drained In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and saute until softened, approximately 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add thyme, zucchini, squash, and mushrooms. Saute for 5 to 10 minutes. Add garlic and stir. Add tomatoes, stock, and garbanzo beans. Let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Add more stock if dry. Add 1/4 cup parsley, red wine vinegar, and basil. Taste and adjust seasonings. Add the raisins and remaining parsley to the prepared couscous, and stir to combine. Plate couscous and spoon stew over the top. i ALSO THROW CASHEWS IN. |
