I myself can't help but love the "movies" and wanted to know exactly when the 5th installment is coming to the silver screen. Does anyone know when "Order of the Pheonix" comes out??? I Looovvvveee Harry Potter (movies, not actor).....it makes me feel like a kid again when I once believed in dragons and magic.... Nowadays it's called Bills and Mortgage.... |

You should really read the books. The movies are nice, but the books are fantastic.
Book #7 (the final book) will be released on July 21st, and Order of The Phoenix film will be out 8 days prior to the book release. Despite Jo's involvement, there are a lot of important parts left out of the movies - especially Prisoner of Azkaban. Also, if you're buying the books - try to get the British/Canadian original version. The US version of the books have been edited - so Harry wears sneakers instead of trainers and eats chips instead of crisps. |
If you decide to buy the books and/or DVDs, go through the oes.org Amazon link. Ron has posted a sticky somewhere about the benefits to the website from ordering this way.
My feeling is that a book is ALWAYS better than the movie that comes from it, but the HP movies are great. I do strongly urge you to read the books though. There's a lot of background info in the books that don't make it to the movies. I truly have lost count of how many times I've read the books. When the Half-Blood Prince came out (almost 2 years ago!), I picked it up from the bookstore Saturday morning, finished it Saturday night and immediately started reading it again. This makes me a nerd. |
There are 2 stickys in General Chit Chat for shopping to give OES.org credit.
All the links are to amazon.com, so that will only get you the US versions of the books. Ron - can you please give us an amazon.ca link so Canadians can shop and give OES.org the credit? Or also so Americans can order the original British text of Harry Potter (not available on amazon.com but available on amazon.ca). |
Believe it or not, Amazon operates each country as a separate company, and requires a separate affiliate account for each.
I would need to sign up for amazon.ca, amazon.co.uk, amazon.fr, amazon.au and amazon.whatever to be able to sell in each country! It is soooooo silly! With the possible exceptions of Canada, the UK and Australia(maybe), it would take a year for oes.org to reach the minimum amount for any kind of a payout, so the hassle hasn't been worth it to me to do that yet. I'll look into it again. In the meantime, here are the US links for the Harry Potter books: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) (Hardcover) by J. K. Rowling (Preorder: Ship date July 21, 2007) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) (Deluxe Edition) (Hardcover), by J. K. Rowling (Preorder: Ship date July 21, 2007) |
Okay, thanks Ron. I didn't realize it would mean signing up separately for amazon.ca, .uk, etc. |
