I use a thin Jewellers/snake chain with a thin lead attached to that for the showring. The Jewellers/snake chain does not pull out coat from around the neck. And I used the nylon one when there little for the showring. Just a thin lead lead attached to the chain then.

Here is a link on the Jewllers/snake chains. Showing different types.

LeAnne uses a thin, round nylon choke collar with a matching show lead. We have 2 sizes of the collar to adjust for growth - of both Chewie and his hair! :D

Here is a picture - sorry it's kind of grainy:

I use thin round nylon as well.
This is what I use on mature sheepies, the jewelers chains one, the two at the back are those ones, one in silver the other gold.

The other funny one is for the young teenage stage, does not choke the dog but you have full control on the dog.

Baby puppies, I use a round nylon choke.

I just use nylon for all ages... on a dog who pulled maybe I'd use the snake chain. It's pretty though, I do have a couple here but I just find nylon is more comfortable for the dog.
As for where to get them, you can usually buy them at shows (no idea if that's where you can get a good price). Most shows have vendor booths set up selling grooming and showing supplies.

Most pet stores don't carry them, but I've found that a few actually do (sorry, can't remember which ones, other than Pet Supply House in Ontario).
I use a jeweler snake chain with a thin show lead as well. I used a nylon lead for a while when Bingley was getting used to everything and then switched to the other when he decided he was too much of a man for nylon! It hasn't pulled any of his coat out - yippee!
That's a really good question. I was told a nylon was best on a puppy, and then told from someone else that it's pretty much preference. My question would then turn to the "coat" and if it would rip any "hairs" out....hhmmmmm.....???? :lmt:

Pet edge and Cherrybrook is where I have been shopping since I've gotten my puppy.

Michelina~
Jeweler snake chain for me too.
Actually Michelina the rolled nylon ones are excellant for the little ones, but as they mature I find they actually get caught in the hair around there bigger, fatter, hairier necks. The jeweler/snake chains are easier with all the hair as they slip through the coat easier and absolutely no hair gets yanked out with that type of chain. And most importantly there well lead trained by then and running on a loose lead.
I think I will go with the jewers chain, would i order the fine or medium, Elliott is a BIG pup
We used the jewelers chain as well.
Probably go with medium if he is growing into a big boy.
