Oh, I remember those days. I thought I doing something wrong.
I would brush one side and while I was brushing the other, it seemed like they would magically reappear! Under the legs, chin and behind the ears were the worst. You might try pulling the mat apart and gentley using a slicker brush to break it up. If you have to cut, try cutting directly into the mat instead of cutting it off. Once it is cut it is easier to break apart. Hang in there. This lasted a couple of months for us. It does get better though. |
My boy Eggbert is 10 months old now, and I feel like the worlds worst sheepie-mom! I brush, brush, brush...and then while cuddling him...MATTS!...EVERYWHERE!
I really have no suggestions...just tons of commiseration! |
Been there, done that..... Shaved the dog down. Much easier to deal with. |
That's my plan in spring....but for now, its still winter in Alaska! |
Bingley is just beginning this. Enough said. |
London will be 1 yr old on April 7th. Been there and then shaved her down well primarily due to her skin allergies but not having to deal with the mats is great. |
The matt monsters are alive and well and living in droves in a changing sheepie coat.
Wait till the next change, from Junior to Mature coat, heck the matt monsters breed in plague proportions. |
Ah, yes, the joys of mats!!
Chewie and I are battling them also. He will be a year on April 15th. |
