Finally...the New York Trip is here!
I'm very excited! My friend Diane is coming with me, since my daughter can't get away from school again. Diane will be a terrific traveling companion! When I took my daughter to college (for the very first time) and I was mucho depressed about it, Diane took the trip with me and provided termendous support. We will be at the Rachael Ray show for taping on tuesday, March 27th. Its the show about the Chicago vs NY pizza throw down. I'm pretty excited about that. As soon as I know when it will air, I'll post. Oh...and Auntie Paula! I'm not counting no stinkin' points in NY!!!!! NY will certainly be warmer than it was back in Feb, and I've bought a new raincoat (with zip out lining) to stay dry. I have to remember to pickup a little umbrella to keep in my purse tomorrow. I will keep you all informed as to developements!!! I hope to get some pictures to post here when I get home. Just think Frank Sinatra...and...start spreading the news!!!!!!!!!! |

| Hi!!! Deborah here....I'm writing from NY...the big apple!!! I will write in more detail when I get home (tomorrow). So much has been happening! Its been a fabulous trip, better than anticipated!!! Today was the Rachael Ray taping. We did not have the meet and greet  , but had a fabulous time! We were there for 2 segments from one show, and the taping of a whole show. The two segments were for a celebraty interview. I don't know his real name, but he was Denny, Izzy's boyfriend on Grey's Anatomy. Ah...he was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo!!!The big full show, was the Chicago/New York pizza throw down. They didn't say when it will air, just to check the website. I suspect it will be next week...or the week after. I will let you know. AND! I won't tell which city won! As audience guests...we each got a free (oh my gosh!) round trip ticket anywhere on Delta Airlines!!! And, I'm the chick that hates to fly! Guess I'll be traveling again! I think we were in pretty visible seats. I am wearing an olive green sweater set...and tortise shell glasses. After the taping, we (the contest winners) got a cooking lesson from the food stylist. We made delicious spring stuff chicken breast...YUM-O! I've taken a lot of pics, and will post them when I get home. I have a ton more to share with you..but will do it later. I miss my puppies (and husband) terribly, and am ready to go home. But right now, Diane and I are going to Central Park for a handsome cab ride...its 77 degrees here! Love ya all...more to come!!! Hey! | I'm sorry to be writing this in bits and pieces! This is my first day back at work, and you wouldn't believe the piles that are on my desk! NY was great. I love it. You walk out anytime of day or night, and there millions of peoples and lights and sounds everywhere! The air is electrified, and it totally energizes you! We went everywhere!!!! I spent way too much money! I bought a "diamond" Tag Hagen watch on Canal street for $40 (hee hee). My friend Nancy said, ah hon...you do know thats fake (of course I did!) But...I also bought some "real" things that I love. I bought a silver bangle bracelet from Tiffany's. I felt like a big shot in there! I also bought (my very special treat for myself on Rachael Ray's money!) diamond stud earrings from the diamond district. I actually got to pick out my diamonds and mountings. Do you know, diamonds are intoxicating? You look at the mound of diamonds they pour out of the paper pouches, and wowie!!!! It goes right to your head! Monday night we had dinner at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant. Without exageration...it was the best meal I've ever had. I had corned beef sandwich at Stage Deli...and it truly must have been a full pound of corned beef!!! (Good thing there are no weight watcher points in NY!) We went uptown...downtown..everywhere. We did not, however, go to ground zero. My heart would have broken. Over the weekend I will be uploading pictures. It did turn out to be the trip of a lifetime. I accomplished everything I wanted to...and dragged my poor friend along! We must have walked about 6 or 7 miles a day. OH! We did take a carriage ride in Central Park Tuesday. It was beautiful, and our driver was HOT! Pics to come!! Its hard to get back into my work-a-day world, but I must...so more to come! |

| We didn't really get to meet him...just watch him being interviewed...so, all I can really confirm is that he is adorable!!! I hate to say this..but Rachael was not adorable. She was cold and didn't converse with the audience at all  . But as soon as the camera was on, she was her perky, precious self, when she wasn't taking the camera man to task.As a contest winner (there were 5 of us) part of the prize was to get to work in the prep kitchen, and have a meet and greet with Rachael. We did get to cook in the kitchen with the food stylist which was a blast!! We made a delicious chicken recipe, which I will post in the food section. But Rachael never showed to meet us, which I thought was really stinky. I think she could have spared 10 minutes to give us a photo op, but didn't. It was a big dissappointment. |
| WOW! Thanks for the scoop. I don't really know much about Rachel Ray but what little I have seen of her she comes across as this "down to earth regular people" kind of gal. So it is interesting that she was too busy for the contest winners. Obviously she has some great PR people spinning an "image" of her.
But I am glad the rest of the trip was fun. Why was Denny on the show? Is he going to be in something else? |
| Were the others winners there from the same contest as you Deborah? Perhaps even though they scheduled you again they didn't completely consider Rachel's schedule?
I imagine that during the taping she may have been so involved in what she needed to do that she couldn't entertain the audience? I am guessing that people who host their own shows are just like actors and actresses. They have different ways of operating to make the best product. Some can break "character" and then just jump right back in, but others need to stay on task or they have trouble. Glad you had a great time in NY Sorry the show taping wasn't everything you wanted it to be.  |
| I think he has a movie coming out with Uma Thurman (?), and also another one that he has a small part in with Vince Vaugh. But, he said the Grey's people are trying to put together a show for him and the fireman that got blown up because they worked together really well. I don't think it will really be a spinoff, because they are both dead on Grey's. I, too, was shocked about Rachael. I admired her because she was the "every gal"....maybe its too much to get so much fame so quickly. |

It could also be the pressure. She has alot of responsibility between all of her ventures. Alot of people rely on her and her image for their livelyhood. |

Oh blush!  Yes, the others won the same contest...and the RR people are the ones that chose when we would be there. I still had a great time. And, I know how hard she works, she really does! She does 3 or 4 different shows and makes lots of personal appearences to promote her shows and products. Even though that was a bit dissapointing....there were so many wonderful things that happened during the trip, I refuse to get hung up on it. AND! I will continue watching her shows!!! In the prep kitchen we used her knives and pans and they were fabulous! They are on my "to purchase list"! |
