I stopped in to make an appointment and was a bit shocked because all the dogs scheduled for that day were walking around together. There were 4 of them. I explained I had a OES and Collie and she was very apprehensive to take Phoebe. She told me she had one other OES and the dog was not nice, sat in the corner and pee'd all over the place and was fulled with knots. I told her I guarantee that was not Phoebe told her I brushed her every night so accepted to do her. I dropped the girls off this morning and just picked them up. They both look beautiful and the grommer actually apologized to me for being so apprehensive about Phoebe. She said I had totally changed her mind about OES all Phoebe did was lick her while she was brushing her out. She got along with the other dogs There were three of them there when I brough them in and Phoebe was a sweet as ever. Oh before she would take the dogs for grooming she had me bring her copies of the shot record. She said she does not accept any dogs unless she has proof of vacines. At first I thought that was odd but after thinking about it I guess I see her point. I had them so it was not big deal anyway. Hooray for Phoebe she was a good girl for once and it only cost me $35.00 for the doo |

Yeah Phoebe! What a good girl. |
Did your other groomer not ask for proof of shots? I always expect it with any place I haven't been before.
I'm glad you were happy with the results. For my own personal rant: I really hate when groomers act like they're doing you a huge favor by taking your dog. If they're uncomfortable, fine. Just say no and we'll move on. I don't know why they have to tell you about an experience that they had with one other dog so now they're prejudiced against all of that kind. I would think in the grooming profession, you get jerks of all shapes and sizes and you'd be used to it! |
Glad to found a new groomer.
Do we get to see pictures of the new do? |
Katie didn't ask me for papers most likely because I've known her for all of her 28 years of life. She is a neighbor of sorts and only lives three blocks away. I have always walked my dogs a lot so she knew the dogs too that is probably why she didn't ask. She is also a taker in person. She had three dogs of her own about 5 cats and the house next door to her had a fire the people gave Katie her two small parrots of which I have one.
Yes, I was a bit offended with the new groomer at first. I thought the same thing she was completely against OES but when she told me the other dog was all knotted I figured the people just did not take care of the dog and I thought because she does not crate the dogs mabe the dog was scared. Mine have never been crated at the groomer probably because I had St Bernards before and Katie didn't have a big enough crate for them and she would play with them when she was done. I figured I would give her the benefit of the doubt and try her out. I also did stop in twice to make sure everything was going ok. I knew the Collie would be fine Phoebe is a bit hyper so I had my doubts too at least I knew she would listen to commands and that would help the groomer. I place the blame on the people who had the other OES if your going to have one you sure better won a few good brushes and use them often |
UT Vet School, huh??!?!! Do you think she will be grooming on the side while she's in school?
I could certainly use a good reliable $25 groomer! (or is that just the friend of the family rate?) |
I don't know but I will call her Dad tonight and get her cell number to find out for you. You will love her I honestly think she is going to have a hard time at Vet school. She has been grooming part time, going to college full time, working for a vet part time for a while now just to save up enough for Vet school. She would come home crying when they had to put a dog down She has very dep feelings for all animals. |
At the same time, a professional groomer should know-- OES mat. It's what they do. You miss a few days and, next thing you know, there's more tangles than you can count. I've been sick this week and I started on Clyde last night for the first time in days and, I admit, he's a mess. I get so sick of hearing whining from groomers though, I'll do the full brushout myself before I even take him anymore. It still bugs me that I do it! I always figure, I am paying the groomer to do make the dog look great. If it were a piece of cake, I'd do it myself for free! |
I think I am going to send my groomer flowers. She never complains about the mats, dirt, or Sam breaking the built in kennel door. And she is the one that shaves and gets all my fosters looking so good. Yep - need to send her flowers. |
Yes you do I am so mad at Phoebe right now I just brought her home today my pond is filled with geese and lets guess where she ran to. I just took her into my shower and started over again and she had the cutest easter bunny bow in h er hair which is missing and probably floating in the pond. I hate geese |
