Bad news for deaf baby Echo

We found out today that Echo, our little deaf OES, has OCD in both shoulders and hip dysplasia on both sides. We'll be taking him to UC Davis on a referral to get a second opinion and they will eventually do whatever needs to be done. Poor little guy, since we have another OES who is one month older, I am always comparing the two boys and I knew that Echo just seemed to walk more like a baby and got tired easier.
I don't know if anybody knows Echo's story, but I found him on Craig's List, purebred Old English Sheepdog, deaf, 7 weeks old for fifty dollars after I had just paid the normal amount for a month older puppy from a breeder back east. I took Echo from the ad because I was worried about his alternative possibilites and now, with all of these recent problems, I know we were meant to have him because somebody else might not have been able to afford or want to get him fixed and keep him.
I tried to cut the hair out of his eyes yesterday, but it came out very uneven; I'm going to try again tonight now that he's still a little sedated from having his x-rays, but here is the most recent picture of our baby

Poor baby! He is so lucky to have you as his family. I really hope that you get good news about his prognosis with treatment. Hang in there!!
My Border Colllie boy had the OES in both shoulders when he was a pup and because he couldn't socialize while he was recovering for so long, he is a bit skittish; we're lucky Echo has such a sweet, sweet personality to beging with.
Poor baby! :( He looks like such a darling! Good luck with his treatment, and thank you for being willing to do what you can for this pup!
May God bless you and yours for what you are doing. My prayers are with you all and Echo. :ghug:
Poor baby... but he couldn't have ended up in a better home.
How wonderful that Echo has you , and God bless you :D
I am very thankful echo has found you and your family.
God blass you guys and I wish for the best!!!

PLease keep us posted of the cutie Echo's process~
Thank you.

I'm sorry.

Thank you!

I'm so sorry...

Thank you.

I seem to be having mixed emotions for you and Echo. Give him a rub for me.

And have him give you a snuggle for me.
Poor little guy :(. What a wonderful person you must be, Echo is lucky to have you. Please keep us updated on his progress.
I put a call into the gal that gave up Echo, first to get any papers she has on the mom so we can register for AKC obedience, and second, now to find out if either parent has this same problem or if any of the other puppies do and if she's still breeding.
Thanks for saying I'm a nice person; with seven dogs, I'm thinking I'm just a little too nice.
Echo is just gorgeous! :hearts: How could you look in those beautiful eyes and NOT do something for him?? How could someone give him up?

Thank you SO much for getting him out of what could have been a disastrous situation.
give lil echo a kiss from us....and bless you for being there for him!!

7 dogs...you must be a long distance relative of staceys :D
Well, I don't know about Stacey, but in addition to the seven dogs, I also ended up with two goats. My first goat, Newton, came to me at 2 days old because his mother wouldn't take care of him, so he had to be bottle fed and because she ran around for fifteen minutes during birth with just his head hanging out, it was touch and go for the longest time, but he'll be a year old next month. My second goat, Toby, is now a little over a week old and came to me for just about the same reason a week ago when his young mother refused to feed him. I'm a sucker for the needy even though I feel like I'm the needy one.
Poor poor pup!!!
Hang in there Echo. It's great of you to try and do the best you can for this poor pup!
