He has recently developed a roaming instinct - in the past weekend he has wandered a kilometre down to the village and we were sleepless wondering where he was when he didn't come home. The reason he didn't return home was that he was picked up by the local policeman and put in the dog pound a few kilometres away! It took 36 hours of searching, phoning and worry to find him, but we did. Any suggestions on whether this is normal behaviour. If it is, any suggestions? He is a beautiful, sweet, adorable friend and we don't want to clip his wings unnecessarily but we want to always ensure he is safe, happy and healthy. His caring friend and co-owner, Anna |

I know people who have trained their OES to perfection and swear by how perfect they are. Even those people have Sheepies who will roam. An OES is easily bored, easily distracted and will look for adventure where they can find it. The only solution that I know is to have them contained in a fenced area or out on a leash.
We rescued two brothers who always wandered to the local foodstore all the time. The local police had to arrest them and take them home a couple of times per week. |
