Invention idea...any chemists out there?

Hi all! I've come up with a great idea for an invention...but I need a chemist (no, its not a drug).

Anyone out there?

When I find out if it can work, I'll run it past all of you!

Best of luck with your invention!

In addition to the chemist,

don't forget a patent attorney :D
:D

I'm serious-

my friend in college made a mint with her inventions
and always had her patent attorney work up all the
correct paperwork. A major shaving blade co.
liked and produced many of her inventions.
(We were sophomores in business school-nice start  )
But...how did she go about getting a prototype created? Or did she just need to present an idea?
Ooh! You're going to make your millions! I just know it...and then you need to hire me. My uncle is a chemist and I work with a ton of PhD science people. Call or email me and let's talk!

patent attorneys can do a patent search to make sure that your idea isn't already taken. i think a lot of them are a rip off though- so good luck
Hey Heather! Aren't you in law school???????????

My recollection is that the company produced the
prototype, but that cost came out of what she earned
after they sold the product. The patent attorney
does do a search but also was responsible to correctly
get the product patented.

Haha, sorry I can't help you with any patent stuff. But if you ever need to make sure your corporation is up to environmental standards or if Pirate ever bites anyone let me know!
I can help you out with Brand development and packaging design if you decide to go the route of selling it on your own... ;)

And depending on what industry the product is for, I might be able to connect you to some people that might want to purchase it, especially if the bath or arts & crafts product markets.
My husband had something patented through a company called: Davison

They are a very reliable company that specifically do what you need.
They do everything from building the prototype, contacting companies like Proctor & Gamble that will brand, market this for you and secure a position in Walmart, etc......

They were really prompt with returning phonecalls, emails and were really active about helping my husband get deals and etc...
Even if you don't know the exact specifics of making your invention, they have a team that works with you and help you make the actual prototype.

I don't know how much it costs to hire a patent lawyer, but the company has their own patent lawyers that work for you as well...

Yes, I think the route of selling it on your own, if you can make the prototype and hire a patent lawyer & all will give you more flexibility and a LOT more profit!!

Companies like Davison charge you for each sold product ... and in the end you only get like 10- 15% of the price or something like that..

That's good to know there are resources out there that are not just going to run off & steal your idea. How did that all work out for your husband? My husband got a couple of patent ideas stolen from him before for a certain type of specialty printing, which was quite aggravating to say the least...
Well....

Everything went great on their part. They were prompt, designed made a prototype for him, and constantly called to make sure he was satisfied. But my husband didn't like the quality of stuff they made. It was a special type of hanger, and they had to make it in plastic to lower the cost.. while he wanted to sell it to higher luxury, clothing brand companies..etc..

So in the end he just decided to patent his idea, but not go through with the whole selling, marketing etc..

I believe there were 2 different kinds of patent he had to file for.
In the end, he spent a whole lot of money to patent his idea, but didn't go through with it to make any money... what a dummy that DH....
I have a few really good ideas myself.
But really need someone to come up with the proper materials and a prototype.
I had an amazing idea for a new type of roofing system. My Dad, who was a roofer from the time he was 14 yrs old to 68 yrs old thought my idea was brilliant, I was scared to share the idea with anyone though.

My first invention is something that would benefit all drivers that drive on roads with lots of trucks.
But something that would cost trucking companies to perform upgrades to their trucks, which they probably would not want to spend the money on.....even if it benefitted all drivers.
