Why the sudden increase in Parvo discussions?

Hi all. I have just had a few minutes to catch up on some forum reading and I came across the recent 'Parvo' topics .

I am stunned at all I have read and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with this horrible illness.

I started to look up some info. on Parvo since I don't know very much about it and I found this:
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?news ... 1822&rfi=6

This story was dated March 17, 2007. Is there a epidemic out there?
My heart goes out to all the puppy's.

I was not sure where to post this so if someone wants to move it ,Please do.

Thanks,
Antoinette

My vet has also seen an increase in Parvo in their office. Twice while I was in there doing regular visits/vaccinations there were signs posted in a few exam rooms "cats only" and the whole place smelled like bleach. I also wonder why there has been an outbreak. Scary stuff.
Would you beleave my husband just got tesred and has the human form of parvo D19. theres not one joint in his body that does not hurt. AND I can catch it too. You can not get it from dogs or cats and we can't give it to them...He is on lots of meds.
Wow, never heard of such a thing. How long until he feels better and what precautions do you have to take?
How did he get it?
I think this is going to be a bad year for a lot of things, viruses, bugs etc...
Extra precautions are a good idea. (a little purell on the feet after a walk? lysol the bottom of your shoes if you go to a dog park, the vet, doggie daycare or anywhere else there are a lot of dogs from different homes tracking things around etc)
Personally, I just wouldn't go to a dog park or other similar idea at all.

I am so sorry to here that. I hope he feels better soon and you don't get it. :(

This is some scary stuff .I like the idea of Purell on the doggy feet !

I have always made everyone in my family take their shoes off before coming in the house, I am glad I do that now !
( I just cant stomach to think what is walked in and is on the bottom of shoes...YUCK).

Well, I guess I am going to do a lot of cleaning with bleach
(just as a precaution) and no outings for Harley for a while!
He will miss Petsmart, he loves to show himself off there .......
